Default SW22 Victory Range Report

I recently purchased the sw22 victory. Today was my first opportunity to take it to the shooting range. The only word that comes to mind about this pistol is "wow." I've never owned a 22 pistol this accurate.

I shot about 400 rounds today. I used 4 different types of ammo. They were CCI Standard, Blazer, Aguila, and Browning BPR. The only ammo that had issues was the Browning. For whatever reason, it would not cycle it properly. Everything else shot great!

The takedown screw did come loose after about 300 rounds. I tightened it, and kept shooting. I'm not too worried about this aspect. It would be better if it didn't come lose, but I'm not going to use it for carry or hunting. So, I'll just tighten it up and move on!

The accuracy was very good from the first shots. The open sights work great. I mounted a Bushnell First Strike micro red dot. The picture is from 20 yards using CCI standard. I'm not a GREAT shot with a handgun, but I thought this was pretty good.

It is a very sweet shooting gun. I been doing a lot of ammo testing indoors and it will shoot a one hole group off a rest @ 10yds. I been shooting at 10 yds as there is some other old guys that do a 10yd 22LR match every week. They are shooting a 1" group and I showed them my one hole group and I think I am not going to get to shoot with them now.

No these old coots are old retired military guys but their groups at 10yds off a rest looks like they probably were cooks. Bunch of nice guys the one has one of those metal legs to show he wasn't a cook all the time. I reshot my groups today and 4 out of 5 went perfectly in one .22 hole a a flyer was touching those 4. The flyer had to be the TAC-22 ammo couldn't be my shooting. BTW I was over there when you were in your last year there.

Good shooting. I'd advise to stay away from Winchester Super X, and the Browning too, as it is supposedly made for them by Winchester. Your gun deserves better ammo.

I did some ammo accuracy testing with the Victory a while back. The example below was from 30 feet off a rest and was typical. The targets are 3" with a ½" bullseye.

Row: 1) CCI Mini-Mag, 2) Federal AutoMatch, 3) Aguila SuperExtra SV, 4) Armscor Standard Velocity, 5) CCI Standard Velocity, 6) Norma TAC-22, 7) SK Standard Plus, 8) Wolf Match Target

These are two groups I shot bench rest at 10yds with my Victory using TAC 22 ammo and a modified Hyskore pistol rest. The Victory has a VQ fluted and ported barrel. The notes are so I can dial the Ultradot II to the different indoor ranges distances. The X ring is a 1/2".

10P8TRIOT, how did you mount your Burris FF like that without the picatinny rail? I LOVE the look of it. It's very streamlined.

I have a SIG 9mm that I mounted a Burris FF3 red dot, but I needed to purchase a kit to replace the rear sight. I didn't know they made one for the victory. Where did you get it?

Great shooting Magload and 10P8TRIOT!!!

Jason at Maddmacs Precision Tactical makes these. Several of us over at RFC provided input into the design. Since these are made one at a time, they are a bit pricey. I would guess that someone will eventually mass produce something similar for a lower price.

There are several things I really like about this mount: 1) It's made out of aluminum, not plastic. 2) It is very low profile (less than 0.13" high, flush with the tab on top of the receiver). Compared to using the picatinny rail and picatinny mount, the FF3 is much closer to the bore axis. 3) I looks much cleaner than the picatinny rail and picatinny mount.

This is a picture from Jason's website. The design has been modified slightly since this picture was taken; the front of the mount has been extended to cover the welds on top of the receiver.

That is a nice mount. I would like to see one with the mounting groves the full length of that unit. My Ultradot II and my scope need a longer base to clamp to. The plastic one is working but it is not even close to looking that good.

Default Mark vs Victory

Picked up my new Ruger Mark III Competition to day and started the comparison between it and my VQ mod'ed Victory. Well ran a bore snake through her at the range went the paper work was done and fired 25 rounds through her using the target iron sights. Now to start with I hate, well maybe that is to strong, my old eyes don't care for them. She failed to eject 3 out of the 25 rounds but then I had not field striped her and cleaned only cleaned the bore. I don't like shooting a new gun with out a total cleaning but she looked so petty. There fore no comparison yet. Got home and did the cleaning. That is when the comparison started. I have never owned a gun that one needed a hammer to disassembly or reassembly. The Victory won hands down there. Now I watched the video on Ruger's site and got her apart and back together about a dozen times each time the bolt wouldn't pull back. By now I only need a few wacks with the hammer. Read the users manual and the guy giving the video failed to mention about 3 things and it worked fine. I know read the user manual dummy but I though the video made it look easy. Well he had a bigger hammer then me. I then installed the rail and a Ultradot II so both guns will have the same optics and it will be off to the range Monday.

I shot 300 rds yesterday, 180 with the Victory and 120 with my Scorpion. 20 rds per target using 3" Shoot N C targets, off hand (both hands) at 50'. Victory has a VC barrel. Other than the trigger, I reslly like it. The "flyers" were when i changed barrels on the Victory back to the factory barrel. Changed the weight/balance, otherwise just as accurate.

Nice shooting Greg. I actually like the trigger on the Victory to me it feels better then the trigger on my new Mark III Competition. I know the Mark III trigger is the way a target trigger is supposed to be. Very little take up and a clean break with little travel but I don't mind the take on on the Victory and it breaks right at 2.5 pounds. I guess I am getting to old I shake to much for off hand. i am trying to work on one handed for BE shooting but need to really cut the wobble down.
