S&W 41 5in Sport barrel sight repair
This is a barrel I picked up on the forum several years ago, I don't remember which member I purchased it from.
I told him my plan to make and install a new front sight, which he replied he would like to see it when it's finished. It took me forever, I just get too lazy sometimes. Here are some before and after photo's. Some of the front sights were pinned at the factory, it's fun trying to locate the pin on them, if they were. Also I know on my replacement sight, I should have gone to a smaller radius, just too late once the stock is gone.

Looks Quite well done. Pinnin it thru the side is a nice idea also.

Front sight
Believe it or not this was done originally at the factory, the half moon recess in the barrel would have been challenging for me, since I don't own cutting tools to do the job, so the slot and the hole were already there via S&W.
Someone either damaged the original sight, or removed the ramped and preferred the patridge. When they drilled the hole into the sight it kicked up, and then it's impossible to re do to make it clean.
That is why I said finding the pins in your old barrels can be hard to do.
Not all are pinned, and I have no idea why they did it, maybe it was only on the 5 inch sport barrels. I made a block, that would allow me to slice off other blades, making either the patridge or ramped front sight. Or any other design I wish.
