Default 22 Victory finish

Obviously, these are a beautiful gun when new. I got mine and handled it a bit, could not go shoot it for a couple of weeks due to our range being flooded. I did mount a red dot on it and a bit of clean and oil prior to first outing, then put it away in a protected plastic case.

Upon first outing, I was surprised to spot a couple of areas on the barrel and receiver that had some minor rust spotting. Very small pits that resulted from my handling.

Obviously, whatever plated finish is on these components is not really stainless steel under it. I rubbed it with paper towel and oil to remove most of it, but do not want to use anything abrasive to damage the finish. Specially the logo embellishment on the receiver. I may try some chrome polish, but must be gentile.

It is hot here, so sweat is not an potion. Just be careful and wipe down well before putting away! I did, but? Not well enough!

Wow. Thanks for the warning. So far nothing like that on mine.

That would be annoying on a brand new gun for sure.Even here where I live in Canada its been extremely warm as well nearing the 100f mark this week several times already. We also get the high humidity to go with it. Makes it feel even a lot hotter then it really is by about another 10-15 degree''s as well.I always wipe my guns down with a Fitz polishing cloth after I handle them. Seems to work very well for me as my 1958 M41 and 1963 M46 do not have any rust spots on them from my handling of them.

Thumbs up Rust

I use Renaissance wax on all firearms and it works great. You don't need much to cover the item well, and it does prevent fingerprints. Give it a try, hey, if it's good enough for her majesty the Queen it's good enough for me.
