Default New S&W 1911e

Just bought a new S&W 1911e full size 45. Already own a couple of 1911 45's and 1911 9mm's full size and commander size. This new S&W is really hard to rack compared to any of my other 1911s. Any one know what size recoil spring comes stock on these. Thanks.

I believe typical spring weight for full size 1911s is 18 pounds. I have a 1911E and it seems to rack virtually the same as my others. A fresh cleaning, lubing and some break in time may be all it needs.

I have a couple of S&W 1911s and my old first year model was like that, at the beginning it was easier to thumb the hammer back first and then move the slide and after a little break-in it will be fine. My pistols are very accurate so let us know how you do at the range.

I don't know about the S&W 1911 .45 ACP but the standard recoil spring weight for most has historically been 16 pounds unless you're shooting heavy loads then 18 might in order or a 14 pound spring if shooting light target loads.

Thanks for the replies. A few youtube reviews mentioned the slide being hard to rack also.
