Default new to the forum.... picked up a 1006.

As the title indicates i picked up a 1006 today. Doesnt look like it has been fired..... or very little. I ordered parts from Midway to rebuild the magazine as the spring feels weak.

Now to the important part. If anyone has a magazine source that isnt crazy priced can you shoot me an email?

Thanks and i look forward to useing this forum. I would post a picture but i dont know how to get it off my tablet and onto here.

Dave

We look forward to,eventually, a pic.
10mm mags are RARE,or when they're available EXPENSIVE.
I sold(for $45 each,$5 over what I paid for them) about a dozen of them to around the country in the past year,my clip/magazine supplier found a 'stash' of them and now I'm down to no stock sellable. when I acquire more I'll be posting.

Also, silly me for assuming Comptac made the CTAC for this gun. I use that holster for my other pistols.

I like kydex with spread out clips like the ctac....... anyone have a holster suggestion. And yes........ i am aware of the milt sparks vm2. Dont like them for the money/wait, but if it comes down to it i will give them a call.

The Galco "Miami Classic", if it was good enough for Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson).. but seriously, it has a lot going for it for a heavy pistol like the 4506/1006's.

Actually, what you want to look for is an old 1990 vintage Galco JackAss Rig, not a Miami Classic. You could also talk to Shelly at Ted Block and see if they'll make an Original LifeLine Rig for it like the one Don Johnson wore in season one of Miami Vice. The JackAss rig allows for the gun to be carried at a much more oblique angle than the current Miami Classic and this eliminates quite a bit of the rear muzzle sweep associated with "horizontal" shoulder holsters.

Got two mags from user "Dparker". Very smooth transaction and good quality product. Very recommended.

Also, have to say i like the dao trigger of the 3953 MUCH better than this TDA.
Which was my only other S&W. I sold it in college, regret that more than going to college in the first place.

i am going to need this trigger worked on....... the double action isnt horrible, but the two stage feeling ratchet single stage feels sloppy.

keep in mind i was forced to carry glocks for many years, so it could be a transition issue, but first impressions were rough.

The thing about triggers...

A good one is fairly stiff, but smooth going in.
Eventually wearing in to a comfort zone...

The bad thing about a trigger job,
is it prematurely wears those parts slightly,
or a fair amount, to get that butter-smooth feeling
that old, well-used guns have...it comes from being used a lot

Which is why instead of doing a trigger job very often anymore
except for the worst cases, simply sit on the couch,
Flitz the trigger/hammer/sear mating area, and watch Sledge Hammer,
clicking away every time he fires...which is pretty often
After a couple episodes, clean off the Flitz, oil/lube as you like,
and it'll be pretty darn smooth at that point.
Repeat if necessary.

Welcome passnopass from Seattle.

I love my 1006 as the full sized 3rd gen's are the cat's meow!

Picked it up and shot it at 25 yards like it was an old friend.
