Default S&W 22A-1 Base Work-Around

All,
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

I have a S&W 22A-1 with a broken rail.

I called S&W today and the tech rep could not find a part number for either the rail alone or the barrel assembly, as shown here #1.

The tech advised that the entire firearm would have to be sent in. This presents a problem as the firearm is at my other address which is out of country.

I asked if I could send in just the barrel and rail, however, was refused.

Thus, if anyone knows where I could purchase, ideally, just the base, or alternately, the barrel assembly, I would be grateful.

Additionally, if there are any work-arounds, please advise.

Again, thanks!

There have been several similar posts. For liability reasons, Smith & Wesson will only work on the whole gun. Major S&W gun parts are not generally sold separately for the same reason.

fisma Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear regarding the problem with your 22A. That top part is the barrel and slide all in one on that model pistol. Houstin Rick is correct in what he stated regarding S&W needing the entire gun back as they go over the entire gun from top to bottom when they have then back in the factory for repair. Its a matter of liability on their part when doing repairs.

Thanks for the replies. Very disappointing.

Looks like the Smith & Wesson will be destroyed. It doesn't appear to be much more than scrap metal with a serial number.

By the time I have the import/export permits, shipping costs, and all paid, I would be close to the price of a new pistol.

Time to check out the new Ruger Mark pistol.

Sorry to hear that. I imagine they will replace it with a new one from stock in the warehouse. QC should be better on the new one I would think.
