Josh,
Welcome to the Forum
You never finished filling out your profile, so we have no idea where you or your "Local Forum" are located.
Are you in the US? Or someplace else?
That is an offering that came from "The American Historical Foundation" not Smith and Wesson
The American Historical Foundation may have created the brief case for it, but I recall that these were in standard blue boxes originally.
I believe that the American Historical Foundation added the engraved text and the borders around the slide and compensator

FnhFive7 Welcome to the forum as well from Canada. I think somebody is attempting to pull your leg on the price on this gun. Altho very nice I agree with a much lower value of around $3800.00. I am sure it will shoot great as it is a performance center gun its only worth what folks will pay for it.

Very nice Jim, gotta love the Comp 40. I also agree with your estimate, though the ham-handed engraving turns me off quite a bit, having the full American Historical package probably keeps it's value near the same price as an unadulterated factory gun.

Twice in the last year I've seen these on Gunbroker, with the tacky engraving and the "we love the 80's" attache case and both times the guns went under $1,500. They were not new/mint, but these are not the finest we have seen from the Performance Center.
