Okay, picked up a second Victory today and a little bag full of rubber o-rings to put on the take down screws of my dynamic duo. So far, no loosening during firing noted, but I'm going to do a torture test next weekend and see how they hold up. BTW, intrigued by the Ruger Mk IV, but they sure ain't giving them things away, so I think I'll just find a way to make the Victories work.

Can anyone give me a ball park figure on the usual turn around time when you had to send a gun back to S&W?

Ugh! Can't get the take down screw out. First Victory was fine. This one is just like my threaded portion of my S&W MP22Compact which I had to use a breaker bar to take off!
Guess I'll soak it and wait to see. I ruined two other wrenches.
Here's the tool that came with the Smith.

You did a good no on that one for sure. I think I would go with a socket type of tool with a sturdy hex bit in the end of it. You would get more torque this way in unloosening this problem screw. Maybe just cut the long end off and put it in a 1/4 socket. I create tools all the time by making up what I don't have. Allen keys are cheap to buy and easy to alter as well to fit most smaller socket sets.

I don't like any gun I have to carry a tool with me for it.
I just bought the Ruger MK IV and the Victory is for sale on Armslist. I haven't even been getting any inquiry on the ad. I figure my price is about $100 less than a new one.
The MK IV Target model only cost me around $30 more than the Victory did. I wouldn't even want to sell the Victory to a friend. Go Ruger MK IV and be happy you did.
I just sold my SW Victory on Armslist. Loving my MKIV.

I'm new to this site.
I was here many years ago.
I just purchased a SW22 Victory with the threaded barrel. I've been a Ruger fan all my life. Mark I, Mark II, Mark III, 22/45 Life, 10/22, M-77.
I use a muzzle brake on my 22/45 Ruger Lite. You can shoot Pennies at 25 yards, easy, on a bench rest. I love it.
I also have a 1959-60 S&W Model 41. The trigger is very lite. A very nice 41.
I picked up the SW22 Victory because I could and the easy take down.
Both are very equal, except, the Victory Trigger is shorter and a very clean break. The Ruger Lite is much heavier. The Victory has the edge. The Ruger is picky on the Ammo you use. The Victory doesn't care, just shoot it.
I've seen video's on the Ruger Mark IV. I haven't used one yet and can't comment on how it shoots, etc. Its easy to take down, shoots great in the video, and another $100.00!
No Regrets, that was the question? Sorry about the editorial.

LGS called this afternoon and said it's back from S&W. He said he'll wait until I get there tomorrow to see if everything is ok. I sure hope so.

IFFV68, Good writeup on the comparison test you have done on those models. Good to hear you like the Smith products. Also Welcome to the Forum from Canada.

Picked it up this afternoon and we tried the takedown screw and it worked perfectly. Did the paperwork ( he had forgotten that we didn't do it and was impressed that I was honest enough to tell him) and took it home. I cleaned it and lubed and can't wait to get to the range. I'm going to call S&W customer service to see if they will send me a new allen wrench to replace the one with the stripped out end.

You're certainly due another hex wrench, BUT I suggest you do yourself a favor and buy a quality hex wrench and replacement screw. Biggest part of this problem is cheap, low-grade screws and tools.

I've got a bunch of those hex wrenches in my tool box but I still want them to send me a new one since it was damaged by trying to get the screw loose. I'll have to scrounge around to find a replacement screw but that is a good idea. I'll see how that original screw does at the range next week.

I called customer service this morning and they are sending me a new hex wrench free of charge. It should be here by the end of the week.

I have put the first 150 rounds thru my Victory just a couple days ago. I would buy it again.
I did install the #61 o-ring on the takedown screw and torqued the barrel and break down screws to 40 inch pounds each. Neither went loose. 150 rounds isn't a real test, but I ran out of daylight at the range.

I had to send mine back because neither I nor my LGS could get the screw out. Got an email from S&W that it will be back on Thursday, 2 weeks from them receiving it. Good service, but now my only problem is that the WX is going sub-zero, so it may be a while before I get to go shooting again.

Update: I finally rec'd a package from S&W this afternoon. They sent me the wrong part! Instead of a hex wrench they sent me a grip screw. Guess I'll have to make another phone call when they open back up on Jan 2nd.

Called S&W yesterday and was surprised to get through so easily. They are sending me the hex wrench so it should be here in a week or so. At least I hope so. *s*

I got one July 2016. It was great at first, but is back at Smith & Wesson now for the second time after the extractor fell out for the second time. Hope they get it right this time.

SW22
I had narrowed my choices down to the Victory and Mark IV. In fact, I was leaning more toward the MarkIV, but when I picked them up, the SW22 felt so much better in my hand.....the balance is great. The first time out it was flawless in operation and seemed very accurate. I have no regrets, great gun for me.

New hex wrench arrived in the mail today so I'm good to go. As soon as it warms up a little it's back to the range. My grandson wants to learn to shoot so you know granddad is going to do it.

Good choice; I have two 22 Victorys, one all tricked out and the other box stock. Just curious...what did you see as street price for the MarkIV vs. 22 Victory?

$370 for the Victory
$519 for the MK IV 22/45
LGS only had one. They wouldn't budge on price.
The list price on the Ruger was $599 at the LGS. They did come down a little.

Please forgive me for reviving an old thread, but with all you SW22 owners in here, I thought this might be the best place to ask a question.
I'm looking for the specs to the screw for the front sight? I thought it was a M4, but it's got finer threads and I don't have anything to compare it to. Local ACE was no help either.
I have the metal pic rail on it with a red dot and not using the front sight so I want to put a set screw in it to keep it crude free.
