After seeing all the posts about the new Victory I just have a question for you owners. Would you purchase one given your experiences with the one you have? I'm seriously considering getting one and your feedback will be appreciated.

Yes; I bought one in January 2016 right after the SHOT Show announcement, I bought a second one 2 weeks ago with a threaded muzzle. I can use either a suppressor or a compensator on the threaded barrel. The factory trigger pull is MUCH better that new Rugers.

PS Both my frame to barrel screws were extremely tight. Fortunately I have a Brownells screw bit kit which is tight and strong.

Yes!! Fact is, I am considering selling my Mk lll 22/45 lite and getting a threaded barrel version of the Victory.

Excellent pistol. I bought mine in the spring and haven't had any issues with it and boy is it accurate.

Absolutely, it's a gem.

My wife got one a few months ago, she loves hers once we broke the barrel retaining screw loose. Heck she even lets me shoot it once and a while!

Almost bought the Ruger MKIV, I have large hands and the S&W fits better. It is also a great shooter, just purchased my second one with a threaded barrel. Very easy to modify also, volquartson and tandemkross have several accessories.

Yes. Without question. I just got back from the range 2 hours ago. 4th outing with the SW22 Victory. No issues at all. My Victory shoots and cycles all different brands so far, but really performs with CCI MiniMags and Winchester M22. Next rip will be testing Remington Golden Bullets and Winchester White Box 555 bulk pack.

It's nice to read that problem Victory pistols apparently are the exception instead of the rule as all the negative posts might have suggested.

My current 2LR semi-autos are an S&W 22A-1 Talo and an Advantage Arms target conversion kit for my 1911s. So far, they work well for me but a Victory is on my list. I'm waiting to see what production versions the future holds - Talos, other finishes, etc.

I've actually bought mine after reading a lot of posts here. I was ready that frame screw might be loose or too tight Mine was neither. It was tight but not excessively tight; and yes after having it for a while and shooting I'd buy it again.

Thanks for the feedback, y'all. Looks like one could be in my possession in the near future. BassPro had them on sale not too long ago so I'll see if any local LGS's will give me the same deal.

I went down to one of the local LGS's today to browse. He had none in stock and they are hard to find around here. He did some checking and called me this afternoon saying he had found a few from his distributor. I'll stop by there and put in my order in the next couple of days. He said he would work with me on price-matching so looks like I'm good to go.

I would most certainly buy the Victory again!

It is the .22LR pistol that I'd recommend over others for "will only have ONE .22LR pistol" people. The only other reasonably priced new semi-auto .22LR pistol for target use I'd consider after getting the Victory, would be a Browning Buckmark Hunter, Field Target, etc. Those Buckmarks would be a good alternate to the Victory, if for some reason you just don't like the Victory. IMHO, the competing Ruger Mark pistols and 22/45's aren't even in the same ballpark (although the new Mark IV might bring Ruger back into the game, but I haven't seen one yet).

For general plinking, informal field carry, etc. I'd also recommend a Ruger SR22. But although the SR22 is very fun to shoot, it's not for the same use, or in the same class as, the Victory.

If I were to lose my Victory, I'd be out in the stores the next day replacing it!

I think your making a wise choice and hopefully getting a good deal as well. Grab a No.61 O-ring for the barrel screw so you will be ready for it when it arrives. They are very cheap tp buy and should last year many years as well.

I like my victory much better than my Ruger.

I love my Victory. The fiber Optics are not too great in the indoor range because most of the time the lighting is low and the optics do not have enough light. Still works but not as it should. Outdoors they are fantastic. I just purchased a red dot sight for it to shoot indoors and HOLY COW I'm having a BLAST !! The gun is so accurate and with the sight I tear out the bulls eye every time. Had the Victory for 3 months now and I just love it.

I have the Victory and a few other .22's. I put on the Volquartsen compensated barrel and a red dot right away. I was still smiling after shooting for a couple of hours. Easy to clean when done and very accurate.

Absolutely. A small metal washer added has kept that takedown screw from loosening during shooting. Seems to handle all the typical bulk ammo I've shot. Very accurate. Takes an optic nicely. Enough aftermarket items out there by Vol and TK that you can upgrade if you want. Highly recommend.

I've picked up a few boxes of the Federal Match that Dick's had on sale a few weeks ago. Will it cycle that ammo ok? I was going to use it for an old H&R revolver I have but I'll give it a try with the Victory. Anyone used it in their Victory?

Mine chewed 3x325 boxes of Federal AutoMatch - not a single hiccup.

I went down and ordered my Victory this morning. It's going to take a few days to get here. I think the first thing I'm going to do is see if we can get the takedown screw out before it even leaves the shop. The dealer said he'd ship it back to them for free if I have any trouble with it and they usually get on it right away. Now comes the wait time. I feel like a little kid around Christmas time right now. *s*

Mine has been nothing short of outstanding. I have used Vibra Tite VC3 since the first time I had the take down screw out and I have not had any issues with the screw working loose. I have a Vortex Venom reflex red dot on it and it shoots anything I've put in it. I have had 1 misfeed with Federal Champion blue box since June. It's scary accurate.

I have put on the Volquarsten SS barrel and there extractor. The only wish I have is that someone would come out with a rail with the same adj sights that are on it now just like the 22s. Hint S&W

UPDATE: Got the call and went in to pick up the Victory this morning. Before we even filled out the paperwork I asked the LGS owner to see if we could get the take down screw out. He gave it a try with the allen wrench that came with the pistol. No luck whatsoever and stripped the end of the wrench. Went back to his gunsmith shop and got a better quality wrench. After a bunch of straining and struggling he finally got it loose. He tightened it back up a little and said he had a some better allen wrenches and would just give me one of those. He took the gun back into his shop to get right size. After a few minutes he came back out and said no matter what he did he could not get the screw loose again. So back to S&W it goes. I know I should be even more mad but I was sorta expecting this to happen after reading all the posts. I'm still not a happy camper. So it's hurry up and wait again.

I don't understand.

If you put in the screw loosely, it comes out loosely (sometimes when you don't intend it to come out). If you put the screw in gorilla-tight, it takes a gorilla to get it out.

Just like every other screw on the planet that I am aware of.

It might well have come installed tightly from the factory, accounting for the initial difficulty in removing it. But once it was out, it shouldn't be difficult to remove again, unless your dealer reinstalled it gorilla-tight.

What am I missing? This sounds like a dealer problem - he reinstalled the already-removed screw too tightly. He might have jammed it in there, cross-threaded it, or who knows what else. But this is not a S&W problem. They will probably fix it anyway, since they're a good company.

At least your dealer did all this before you filled out any paperwork, so he is still the owner of the pistol, not you. Just get a different one. And don't let the dealer screw this new one up before you even get it home again.

No, I didn't do anything. I had the dealer try to remove the screw and he stripped the wrench trying to remove the screw. He got the screw loose using a better wrench but it was a struggle just getting it move and never really did get that loose. He never did remove it completely. He tightened it up just a little and then could not get it to loosen whatsoever. Anyway, it's his problem and if the trip back to S&W doesn't fix it I'll simply ask for a different one. I did it at the shop before I did the paperwork so it would be his problem and not mine if the screw was a problem like some of the others who purchased them and wrote about it here when theirs came from to factory too tight to remove and had to be sent back.

You were very smart to have the dealer work with the screw before you accepted delivery of the pistol. I didn't know to do that when I bought mine. But my screw was never a problem.

I have a feeling that the screw came from the factory cross-threaded and that's why he had such a problem with getting it loose and even unscrewing it any farther. He was straining just to get it to loosen up at all. We'll see what happens when it comes back from S&W. I'm certainly not going to take that one if it still has a problem with the take down screw. I just hate having to wait for something that should come from the factory ready to go.

The screw on mine was pretty darn tight, but I wanted to take it down to lube before first firing. So a squirt of liquid wrench, wait 15 min, then apply gradually increasing pressure and it broke loose. Wrench is fine, screwhead fine, and threads show no damage. Wiped off the liquid wrench and now snug it up with as much force as I'm willing to use to take it out. Keep the wrench handy and snug it up from time to time when shooting if needed. I'm looking for a washer to put on there perhaps, but it seems to be staying snug during shooting for now.

Lots of users recommend you use a #61 O-ring instead of a washer, according to a bunch of the threads here. You may want to give that a try.

I looked at our farm supply store (much the same as a hardware store, but with more stuff), but could not find any O-rings marked #61. I did find some marked "Industry standard #008" that fit (I took my Victory's screw into the store with me). There was one that was slightly bigger than the 008 that fit too, but I liked the snugger fit of the 008.

I paid 23 cents a piece, and got two.

I got the #61 rubber O-ring at the ACE Hardware store.

IMHO, and I was a practicing pistolsmith, THIS IS ONE OF S&W's BEST! The Victory 22 LR is going to be around and in production for decades. The aftermarket people are going to flood the market with their offerings like they did with the AR-15 platform. I don't think that every thing they offer will be a lot better than what S&W is offering, but lots of us have the need to personalize our firearms. I have been shooting the heck out of mine and so far it is 'box stock' and I feel NO NEED to customize it. I don't even feel the need to do a trigger job on mine. And that is really rare for me. I owned 5 Ruger 22 autos in various configurations. After buying my Victory 22 LR, I have sold three. One I will never sell because I gave it to my Dad and then inherited it after his death. The other will go some day soon. The naysayers will soon give up on talking about the big mistake the barrel retaining cap screw was and go on to find another feature of another firearm to carp about. I have never seen a big need for a suppressor on a pistol, but I might just change my mind in this case. The Victory 22 LR and a suppressor just seem to go together like chocolate and peanut butter. ..... :-)

Got one of the first ones to hit our area and love it. I really like my Ruger 22/45 and Beretta 22 conversion but the Victory is turning out to be my favorite. Actually more accurate than my highly tuner 22/45 with everything stock in the Victory. Actually like the trigger out of the box and the price is fantastic making the Victory a super value. I am going to get the threaded barrel version as well if I don't just get the Volquartezen barrel.

I purchased a 22 Victory not long after they came on the market and enjoyed it very much, It's a nice firearm.
I recently purchased a MK IV and like it even better.
You wont go wrong with either, I prefer the Ruger MK series.
