Default New Smith joins the family...

She's not perfect, but she's mine. May/1992 4506-1. Cannot wait to get her to the range!

Looks good to me. I have a 4566 and love it.

I'm a lifelong 1911 fan, and I find myself shooting and carrying my 3rd gen Smiths a lot more than my 1911

An excellent handgun, superior IMHO to the popular 1911 in grip, weight and accuracy. Maybe the only third gen that you can use as a club if you run out of ammo. Extremely fun to shoot and not picky about ammo.

I have to agree with you on that. I do love my 1911s but I find myself with the 4566 TSW more often than not.

I carried both the 645 and the 4506 on-duty for a number of years. Great pistols.

I have a 4506, it was my carry gun in uniform. Been to the range once before I retired ( 50 rounds ). They give you your pistol when you retire. It has been resting in my safe after being cleaned.

This one that I have is not pristine. It has some shiny spots of holster wear. Is there a widely accepted method of "dulling" down the shiny holster wear to more match the original finish?

Default My Family Grows Larger Too ...

Nice .45! My only large frame's are 10mm but a friend has a 4506 and they are identical other than caliber. Many parts interchange between them. Great to shoot, but heavy to carry and hard to hide if you want to go concealed.

Another 3rd gen joined my family of Smith's yesterday, but this one's going to be hard to feed. It came with two magazines but to get a third is going to be costly.

The only one I've found online is a "buy it now" for $150. Way more than the also costly 10mm mags.

Getting the shiny holster wear or other imperfections like minor scratches of beans bead blasting. Here's my 3913NL after refinishing the slide.
