I enjoy taking my 39-2 to the range and having a lot of fun shooting it.

I also greatly enjoy range time with my 45 revolvers

When it comes to my nightstand I turn to a Model 59 with it's 14/15 rounds.

The 38spl had done the job for me and saved my bacon a number of times but I'm in a different situation now.

After watching video of the Asian woman shooting it out with 3 armed home invaders my 15 is better than 6 thinking was reinforced.

I like having more 9mm rounds than fewer larger caliber and heavier loads.

With 15 I can gain fire superiority and hopefully hit my targets and win the 1st place trophy.I rely on my training, marksmanship and experience to get me through events I hope never come

To me,the 59 feels like I'm holding a 2 X 6 while the 39 fits like a pair of kid leathergloves(afterall, the 52 has the same gripframe!!).And while not having Paul Banyon's hands,I'm not ''small mitted''.

Yes. And I stand by my statement.

Between a 39 and a 59, I'd get a 39.
My hands are L/XL width and my fingers are M length.
The 59 is a bit too thick/blocky feeling to me.
Yet, my 5946 with arched stock and my 5906 with straight stock feel good to me. Curious.

Not quite... there is another major difference. M39's, have a "stepped" barrel feed ramp, the was the source of feeding issues and jams, the M39-2 did away with it.

There also other improvements made on the M39-2 during it's run, so depending on whether or not the M39-2 is an early or late manufacturer, there are things like a different style barrel bushing to be found.

I totally agree on what's been said about the single stack 39 series... I have a M39-2, it is on my list of the candidates in the herd I would need to choose from, if I was suddenly forced to keep only a few of my handguns.

I have a 39-2 and a 915 (I know, totally different animals), I like them both. I think the 39-2 is the classier of the 2, both triggers are sweet (the 915 has had some work done), and the 915 with the factory Delrin grips is almost as narrow.

If it's just for shooting, go with the 39.
