Bodyguard Issues
Sent wife's back to S&W for light strikes and sometimes failure to lock back after last round. Returned in about 2 weeks and they replaced firing pin and spring as well as mag catch. Went to the range Friday and the light strikes are fixed but not it never locks back after the last round!!! Also the trigger is super stiff now and hurts wife's finger!!!
Well back to S&W gain today. Gun is about 2 years old and has worked good until the problems arouse. Wife's EDC so it must be reliable!!!

Did you send it back this time for the heavy trigger pull or for not locking back after every mag?
Thumb hitting the mag release could be a reason for not locking back. I have had this issue with mine....I have to pay attention to where my thumb is to prevent it. The BG380's are small and may require an adjusted grip. Also, could be the mag follower. I'm still experimenting, but I think one of my mags has a follower that is causing it not to lock back on the last round. I'll let you know when I find out for sure.
As for the heavy trigger pull. Do you mean heavy as in like a revolver in double action...or even heavier than that? A heavier spring prevents the light strikes. It's a double action pistol and that's just the way it is. I don't mind the heavy trigger pull myself. I shoot revolvers a lot and I'm used to it.

Yes I sent it back for both the heavy trigger and slide lock issue. Wife and I were both careful on not bumping the slide lock. Problem is the slide lock worked 50% of the time before it went to S&W and now it does not work at all. The heavy trigger is a lot harder to pull than it was originally and it hurt the wife's finger to pull it. Replacing the firing pin spring should not have made it harder to pull I would think.
Anxious to see what S&W has to say.

If the trigger pull is still heavy upon return and it is indeed to be used for carry, try to remember one important and often overlooked fact.
A hard trigger can seem very light when the adrenaline starts flowing in an emergency.

Well the BG came back yesterday. S&W replaced the slide lock again. Also said it passed range tests. Hope to get to the range over Thanksgiving week to test it out.

Took to the range last week and put a box thru and no issues with the slide locking back after the last round. Trigger seems okay to me but it is wife's gun and some women are hard to please!!!

We have one of these Bodyguards. Saying the trigger pull is "heavy" is a massive understatement. It's ridiculous. I have many DAO hammer-fired pistols, and this is not "just the way it is". The buttons to turn on the laser are ridiculously hard to press also.
I would not buy another Bodyguard, or recommend one to anyone, because of the horrid trigger pull. My Brother-in-law has a Bodyguard too, and his trigger is just as heavy. The first time I shot one, I stopped trying to fire and checked the safety. I thought it was on. But no, the trigger is really that bad. The Bodyguard takes the crown for "worst trigger I've ever encountered".
If there are reports that S&W will actually fix this, I'll send ours back in a heartbeat. But since I've shot a couple, and they're all like this, I figure it's just a poor trigger design that we're stuck with.

There's a lot of people that have stated they HATE the trigger pull on the bg380. Dose nobody ever ask to dry fire the gun when looking at it to buy. Any time I'm looking to buy a gun at any lgs I ask if it's ok to dry fire it. I have had a few say no and that means I don't buy there. But for the most part they say it's ok and allways never Rush in to a firearms buy! Always do your homework on what your looking to get. If your looking to get a new car you shop around and google the web for hours looking and read about it so way dose nobody do that when looking for new firearm. Guess it's easyer to get on and trash it on the web when they don't like. Personally I love my m&p bg380 and have run over 1000 rounds and runs great. But everyone is intiltled to there own opinion

FYI, my wife is the one who bought the Bodyguard. We allow each other to buy whatever guns we want. But we shoot each others guns and treat them as "family guns". So I have no problem commenting on something with such a poor trigger as the Bodyguard. I didn't buy it. Nor would I have. My wife did. But that doesn't make my comments invalid or misplaced.

Of course. And in all fairness, my wife hates some of the guns I have purchased. She thinks my SAA revolver is a joke. But it's actually an exceptional handgun. She doesn't like any of my lever actions much either. To each his own.
But the Bodyguard still has a really bad trigger. Anyone who doesn't recognize that either has not been shooting long, or has some other overriding reason to buy one. In my wife's case, "it was cute" was her reason. Other possible reasons are its exceptional smallness - it's easy to conceal carry one of these. Valid reasons. But the trigger is definitely the guns low point, and the effect of that trigger on being able to shoot the gun accurately relegates it to an extremely close range weapon, or a backup gun, IMHO. Which is fine, if that's what you're after.
If S&W can actually do something to improve these triggers if you send the gun back to them, that would be fantastic!

Besides the BG, wife bought a new Ruger LCP II. Great trigger compared to the BG. The Ruger is now her EDC and I get the BG as my BUG!!!

These things have lousy triggers and are notoriously unreliable.
I wouldn't buy one.
Many, many older 380's are much better, for comparable for lower prices.
For a bit more, a Colt M 1908 in cosmetically challenged condition can be had.
Much better in all ways.

I've never had an issue with the trigger. Yes, it's long. But so what? This isn't a target gun. I generally pull and shoot as fast as I can pull the trigger at 5 yards. Paper plate doesn't stand a chance. What more can I ask for in a tiny pocket gun?
The one thing I do not like about the Bodyguard is I have to press the mag release as I insert a mag. If I don't, the mag gets hung up on the mag catch inside the magazine well. Some guys say to smack it in and it will wear it in, but all that does is wear down the mag catch and eventually that plastic part will fail. It's not a big deal. Almost second nature now. But S&W should address that. I don't carry a spare mag and if I ever did I doubt smacking it in once is gonna hurt the gun.
