Default Grips and holster for my Model 59!HELP!

HELLO ALL:

I've been searching high and low for the perfect pistol grips and a really nice brown/reddish right handed holster for my S&W Model 59. I find really beautiful grips on Ebay from Thailand but I am afraid to send PayPal there for them because I have never delt with that country but the grips are awesome looking!! I have been hunting high and low within the USA and I do find beautiful faux Ivory and bone but I still think that if I hold off, I may just find the right set for my 9mm!! I found a really nice Aztec S&W set in gold and silver plated for nearly $700 but I don't have that much saved up and they will probably be gone by the time I do anyway( see picture). I really like swirl pearl, faux ivory with or w/o a fancy carving or maybe the right bone design.

I cannot believe how many I do find available for the Model 59 in this day and age, but this S&W M59 9mm is a personal keeper and has been in the family since new and purchased from my brother's store, and who has since passed away in 2007 while on his way to work while riding on his 2003 Harley anniversary edition >> motorcycle vs. a deer with a full rack, early in the morning around 6am!
I want my grips to really stand out. And finding a holster isn't easy at all! I see a few on Ebay but I don't believe that a holster that fits a Model 39(single stack and narrower) will fit a Model 59(wider) and I found a beautiful brown/red leather holster that stated M-39/M-59 and a 456, BUT, it looked like they had, had a 5906 in it at one time by the way the front finger guard shape of the leather looked.
Anyway, I figure either someone here has connections to good information or sourses that I can't seem to locate or they just may manufacture the grips or the holster them selves. I am right handed and want an OWB high ride w/ 'forward cant' if possible and maybe combat style (strapless) but a snap strap would work also in reddish brown to match the reddish gun belt I bought for my last holster for a different gun. Just looking for another holster to match my reddish gun belt. And with this part of the serial # can you give me an approx manufacture date( A3568) Thanks for any assistance you may provide and Happy Holidays to all!!!! The Wiz.

The slide for a 39 and 59 are one in the same so don't be concerned about extra width...that width is in the grips which is NOT in the holster.

Most of my holsters for my 39/59's are Kramer's ( #2,#3 and the MSP all horsehide) both IWB and OWB...I also use some Milt Sparks holsters as well.

As far as the grips from Thailand, I have purchased 3 (K & N frame) and they are an exquisite fit in ALL aspects. I have NO problem in using their product.

Randy

PS. grips are NOT interchangeable from a 39 to a 59 however.....

Contact Ed. Rodek Leather Works, Inc. - Holsters
He calls his brown/red color mahogany. That the color of the one pictured below he made for my Glock. He made the one below almost 20 years ago. I carried it everyday for several years. It still looks like new and as tight as the day he made it.
$40 for a pancake in your choice of finishes (plain, border print, basketweave). Delivery takes about 1 week. If you want something other than a pancake or what he has pictured on his website just tell him what you're looking for. He does custom work. What's on his website are examples of his most commonly asked for styles.
You won't be disappointed with his work. He uses very heavy leather. Note the stitching is perfect. Ed is a perfectionist. It won't leave his place unless he's 100% satisfied that it's right. Don't let the low price scare you away thinking it's an inferior or cheap product. Ed works out of his basement, it's a hobby for him, and he doesn't have the overhead the big name makers do which is why he can price his products so cheap.
He's made a bunch of holsters for the 39/59 and subsequent series as they were our issued duty guns for 32 years.

Those grips sellers on eBay from Thailand with a high positive feedback count are pretty reliable... I've ordered various things on eBay from sellers in Thailand, Hong Kong and China... and have experienced better track record from them than some US sellers, that I had to file complaints/claims against on PayPal for eBay item not received or not at all as depicted in the auction.

Here's some grips that may interest you that are made in the US, and are available in various colors... note that he wants a tracing of the original grips on paper to get the hole spacing exact on the ones he makes.

Tombstone Gun Grips: S&W M59 "Grim Reaper" (79d)

For holsters... ones for a S&W 4006 would probably work too... as mentioned, holsters are sized from the grip frame forward as the rear part of the gun from behind the trigger guard is exposed.

For older Smith holsters try Don Hume. They have a number of really nice options and I own a total of 7 of them. This + the have an ebay store for 2nds that is ridiculously cheap for quality holsters.
