Default Model 39-59 rare finds............

Anyone ever see a Model 39-59 Alloy slide??

How about a new 4" .38 AMU barrel?

What type of magazine did those 100 or so .38 A.M.U.s use??

The 38 AMU magazine we had at one time looked just like a “regular” Model 52 magazine but was tuned to accept the AMU round. It would not accept a 38 Spl round. It was not marked to distinguish it from a standard 38 Spl mag.

I have not heard of or seen an alloy model 39 or 59 slide. With the exception of .22 rimfire pistols, steel parts seem to be the norm for durability. I suppose a non-steel slide of equivalent weight would work...a while.

Mr. browning, the 38AMU mag is unique. The body appears to be that of a std. mod-52 as does the base plate which is un-marked other that S&W.
The real noticeable difference is the follower. There is a vertical protrusion on the rear of the steel follower. You can spot it immediately.
Never seen a spare barrel or aluminum slide offered for sale. Mike
