Went to Home Depot and and they didn't have any. Where have you bought these o-rings?

I got mine at the local John Deere dealer p/n R34812. It is a very common oring used on the expansion valve of many automotive AC units. I just picked up my new Victory from LGS today and immediately disassembled it using a 1/4" drive beam torque wrench. The take down screw came loose at 30 inch/pounds and it did have red loctite on it. I left the loctite on it and torqued it to 40 inch/pounds. I really don't want to use the oring because the tension may decrease as the oring collapses.

Thats not likely to ever happen as we would have heard about by now. The O-ring trick works extremely well and does not loosen off at all. I would not use 40 inch lbs but at the most around 35 inch lbs torque and NO locktite ever.

OK, I'm with the majority; no Loctite, oring, drop of RemOil, and 35 inch pounds.

I would still go with the O ring myself as I suspect it will not only keep it tight when needed but loosen up easier when needed as well.

I will pick up some O-rings this afternoon. Found them at an Ace hardware store.

Having one installed will help make this a more enjoyable gun for you to shoot. This is one of the reasons why we do this sport is to enjoy it. Let us know how it works for you after you have tried it out for a while.

I picked up my Victory a couple days ago. When taking it apart for initial cleaning I noticed there was a drop of Loctite, red nonetheless, already installed on the takedown screw. Ran about 100 rounds at the range. Didn't notice any loosening. If it does, I'll definitely install an 'O' ring.
BTW, so much fun to shoot. Looks much better than my former plinker, a Beretta NEOS.

They are a much superior gun to the Neo's as I had one of these a few years back for a while. It was OK but not quite the same quality as the Victory at all.

I would give anything for a loose screw - mine will not even come out. Twisted the allen wrench, snapped a hex socket - not budging. And to think people say the Ruger MKII is tough to clean. Going to put a couple hundred rounds through it and then maybe it will loosen enough for an initial cleaning.

^^ Yep I bet it will eventually loosen up as you get it hot from shooting then cooling then hot from shooting again.
I can't imagine anyone putting RED locktight on a gun screw that is so small. IMO that is asking for a stripped head or even a snapped screw when trying to remove it.

I got my o-ring at a Jax store (a local ranch supply, hardware, outdoors, etc. store - great place!)

They didn't have any #61 o-rings. But I thought ahead and had taken my Victory screw with me, so I just tried various o-ring sizes that they did have (which was tons of them) and found a perfect fit. For all I know, it WAS a #61, just not labeled that way.

Ace Hardware is the go-to place around here to find whatever you need. That, and McGuckins Hardware in Boulder too.

I wonder if anyone who has switched out to a Volquartsen barrel have experienced the screw loosening?

John Deere is a little bit pricey for the O-rings in my view and it does not serve you very well just sitting in your carry case. I would coat the O-ring with some of the air conditioning oil on it when you install as well. I use it on sqeeky suspensions on the rubbers on my vehicle suspensions. It does shut them right up very quickly as well.
