Default Set me straight on the S&W PPK/S

I saw an interesting ad today for a "Smith & Wesson imported PPK/S in .32acp". Huh?
I'm a big fan of the Walther PP series pistols, but admit to not knowing much about the S&W version. Didn't S&W make all the PPK/Ss that they sold? Did they make them in .32acp? I've only seen the .380s. Would these have been subject to the recall?
I seem to remember something about grips not fitting?
Approximate value? Is the .32 version rare?
I can't find any reference to them in SCSW either?

I'm not looking to buy it. The ad just made me curious.

Never saw an S&W made PPK/S in 32 ACP? Might be a mis print. I had a couple of the S&W PPK/S's in 380 and both were a jamamatics, ever after going back to S&W multiple times. Regardless of the various ammo manufactures I tried (to include ball), they were unreliable for CCW. I licked my wounds and dumped them just as fast as I could. I must of piddled away hundreds of dollars in ammo trying to get a brand that worked 100%.

Perhaps it was an old stock Ranger-made specimen with S&W paperwork.

I also thought that the seller may have been wrong about it being a S&W. But the photos show the gun has the extended frame tang which I thought was unique to the S&W version.

I've had a PPKS (.380) mfg. by Smith and Wesson since 2005. I did send it back for the recall which, by the way, had nothing to do with grips though I don't remember exactly what it was. I've put thousands of rounds through it with practically zero malfunctions. This is my primary carry firearm and it surely wouldn't be if it malfunctioned as much as some people say it does. I also keep my firearms clean, taking care to clean them following each range session and each is scheduled for a detail cleaning every 6 months.

S&W made the PPK/S in 32 for a few years. Here's a now-sold example of one on gunsamerica Walther PPK/S .32

i've had a xxxxBAS serial number s&w ppk/s for awhile now and i've never had a malfunction other than cycling ammunition by hand - the chamber indicator bar interferes with ejection at slow speeds. it still pulls the round of the chamber, but it drops through the magazine well rather than pop out the ejection port.

my ppk/s fires everything i've fed it so far, even cheap FMJ, although i haven't tried tula FMJs in it yet. tula steel-cased FMJs are the only round that my ruger lcp doesn't care much for, i've had 3 malfunctions out of 200rds with it. i trust my ppk/s with my life every day, although some days i carry the lcp as a back up to the ppk/s if i visit any cities.

Here's one that I've had for around 18 years. Hard to see in the photo, but "S&W" is molded into the box under the Walther label. Also note the address for warranty work:

All this time, never shot the darned thing. However, I intend to address that oversight early next week. -S2

That is a very nice Ranger-made specimen, thankfully immune from the gremlins of the S&W-made version.

Strange that my Interarms/Ranger made PPK/S was packaged by S&W. It must have been caught-up in the transition.

Question: why are the Interarms referred to as "Rangers"? Thanks -S2

They were made by Ranger Manufacturing/Mid-South Industries Inc. in Gadsden, Alabama.

Much info here: The Walther, Interarms/Ranger, S&W arrangement - WaltherForums
