There are several threads in this forum about the 457. For some reason, I can't the search engine to show any of them, but if you just scroll through a few pages of posts, you'll get plenty of information.

I think that there were three separate threads within the last week or so.

The short story is that the 457 was a "Value Line" version of the 4513TSW, but without a rail. It came in three main variations. An all black carbon steel/alloy version, an all silver stainless steel/alloy version, and a two tone stainless/black alloy version. There were a small number of 457D versions that were converted to Double Action Only for the Chicago PD.

Just about all 4513TSW or 4516 accessories will work with the 457.

I have one and it's my own .45ACP handgun. Very reliable, very accurate. A friend of mine shot it once and offered to buy it from me on the spot.

No sale.

I think a spurred hammer from the full sized 45xx guns would fit.

GaryS is exactly right. you can get ahold of a spurred hammer assembly brand new from BrownellsHAMMER ASSEMBLY, SPURRED, BLUE | Brownells
and all it takes is swapping the stirrup.

Once you get your hammer out of the gun...

You'd tap out those little roll pins and take the short stirrup from your spurless hammer and pin it to the spurred hammer.

Be very careful when pulling the sideplate, it's very easy to bugger up if not disassembled from the frame properly with due care and replacements are not easy to come by.

If you not thoroughly familiar with tearing down these guns, I suggest reviewing the vids one of our members made which are linked in the notable threads index.

Other stuff you can do...

Both Trijicon and XS sight System make tritium lamp sights for that model that replace the plastic value line sights.

Replacement parts aren't too big a deal either. Sprinco tactical makes some very nice recoil spring set for those compact 45s which includes the 457. Your 457 also shares a great deal of parts commonality with the rest of the 45xx series.

Welcome to the club

Cheers
Bill

It's an Aluminum (or as the British say Aluminium) alloy. I don't know what else is in the mixture.

While you are upgrading your 457 to suit you, you should try a Hogue rubber grip. Completely changed how the 457 feels in the hand, for me.

Great pistol. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI
