Default 39 (no dash) help.

I count myself very lucky to have just found (purchased) a beautiful 39, 2 original (all metal) mags, no box.

Its an earlier 5 digit serial number, 654XX. Could this be one of the general officers guns? 65352 was given/presented to Major Gen. Richard D.Reinbold on 5/3/69

Any thoughts/comments are much appreciated.

Will post pictures when I figure out best way to do it.

Thanks.

Serial number dates it to mid 60's.
I'm not aware of the military ever issuing or using model 39's.

I believe some Seals were issued them in Nam in the 60's.

Yes. You can search here for "Hush Puppy". FWIW, in the 90's there were still at least a few in storage in Dam Neck. A friend checked them out a few times and got some range time with them.

It is true. Knew a SEAL CPO that was issued one and used it in the Mekong Delta. This was first hand info. I never wondered about the Mk 22 Hush Puppy having been told by him about the 39.
