Default Chrome 39s or 59s??

Did Smith use a chrome finish on any 39s or 59s?
I'm looking at two 39-2s, both silver, and am being told ones nickel and the other is chrome.
On one of the guns the decocker and slide release is black and on the other they are plated to match the rest of the gun, why rhe difference? I'm being told that the one with black hardware is the chrome one??

I've also seen two 59s finished the same way also.

Thanks for any insights.

My bet is the nickel gun will be factory and have blue small moving parts, hammer, trigger, extractor, etc and the chrome gun will be aftermarket and the small parts plated as well. From what I've seen from other examples.

No expert here, but I'm with TNZ71. S&W was more likely to use nickle plating than chrome. Some people seem to use or confuse the two terms, but they are distinctly different. Other than maybe flash chroming of triggers and hammers, I don't know if S&W did any chroming of 39/59 models.

But as I said, I'm no expert!!

Thanks. Might explain why the all Nickel/Chrome looks nicer.
