That is the post fluted handle SAT that shipped with adjustable sight guns. Probably started mid to late 80's.

Nice to have when you need one. I have a small screwdriver set in my gun case which always rides with me. You just never know when you are going to need one.

I have several that came with S&W guns, but they are much different than that.

Actually, I think that might be the second type flat SAT. Seems like the first ones didn't have as large of a key ring hole.
My 29-3 I bought in 1989 came with one like that, but it seems like it has a smaller hole. I'll see if I can find it and look. It is on a key ring somewhere.

The part shown came with revolvers. S/A came with the Al handle
screwdriver up until the Bangor Punta era.

There also was a flat three-bladed tool about the size of a quarter with the three blades protruding every 120 degrees. I have one on each key ring and one in each range bag as they fit about every slotted screw on any gun. You find them on eBay and other sites.

The 2 I have are in the tool kit shipped in the box with a 4" 25-5 on the 31st day of 1986 and the other with a Model of 1988 625-2 that shipped on the 103rd day of 1989.These tool kits have the straight knurlned end cleaning rod.
On one side of the 2 bladed tool it says "Smith & Wesson Since 1852" stamped into the metal and on the other side it has the S&W logo and "Sight Adjustment Only" stamped into the metal.
The key ring holes on both my samples are the same size.
I am not the original owner of the guns.
