Serial numbers and a few pictures will probably spark some interest.

You can look up closed transactions on the big gun auction sites to get an idea, too.

First the Model 4006: I'm not sure what the Briley barrel is going to do to the selling price so I'll just talk about an "ANIB" stock fixed sights Model 4006 (non-cop trade-in). To me, that's a $500 gun all day long and maybe as much as $550 or $575 to the right buyer. The problem is that there are a lot of trade-ins out there right now (some of them pretty darn nice) and that is going to drag down what you can get for it... maybe down to as low as $425-$450 or so. You will need to find someone who is not an auction website "trade-in" kind of guy (or gal) in order to get absolute top dollar. Now, that said, find someone who understands, appreciates and wants that Briley barrel mod and you've hit pay dirt! But the adder over pure stock in terms of resale value? I just don't know.

The Model 5906: If this is truly unfired in its original factory box with everything, you've got a real gem there. I'd say an absolute low of $475 (due to heavy trade-in competition) but a high of up to $700 or possibly more. The 5906 with fixed sights is still in very high demand and there are not that many examples out there that are truly "unfired" in their original factory boxes. People around here pay a sweet premium for that condition.

Disclaimer: I base this on what I'm seeing locally and on that big firearms auction website. I do NOT live in Pennsylvania where everything seems to sell for 50¢ on the dollar or less.

Please tell me about the Briley barrel 4006--
The replacement barrel was a drop-in replacement for the original, fixed barrel bushing (pressed in to the slide) is the original bushing?

Can you explain why you replaced the barrel on a basically brand new pistol that had only 25 rounds through it? Where is the original barrel?

By far the largest and most active market for S&W 3rd Gen pistols is on Gunbroker. I think $500 to $700 is a likely selling price for either of these two pistols. All else being equal... the 5906 would be more popular/likely to sell. .40 S&W caliber 3rd Gens are the least in demand. An established dealer with a high feedback rating and many pictures WILL bring in more money for either than a low feedback or new to Gunbroker seller likely would.

Another decent option for selling is on the classified area of these forums.

Can you get a pic of the end of slide with the Briley installed? I am a fan of that bushing and am interested in how it was installed too.

I think the 4006 would be closer to $450/500 with a slight premium for the Briley addition.

I recently bought a very nice used p226/.40 for well under $400, been watching used HK Usp/.40's going for around $400. The .40 market right now is very soft.
