S&W 5905
Spotted in a LGS.
Already have a nice 5904, so don't need/want another.
I know they're somewhat uncommon.
If any member might be interested, PM me and I'll send you the contact.
No personal interest, don't believe this is a violation.

Thanks for the tip TAROMAN, I have a 5906 that I put a 3913 slide on and made my own 5906 SSV:
I never liked the 'ears" on the adjustable sights that came with my 5906 so that's why I put the shorter slide on it.

Doesn't it SUCK to find another almost duplicate of something you already have? Not long ago I spotted ANOTHER 5906 "Tactical" and I was Soooo tempted to buy it, but my Ex wife's words kept echoing in my head..."You don't NEED two of the same thing... You don't NEED two of the same thing..."
And I let it pass :-0

I don't think the 5905 is commonly encountered. I don't have my SCSW handy but I'm fairly certain that they are nowhere near as common as 5904s.
I would do a little more research. I want to say the 5905 has a carbon steel.frame whereas the 5904 has a blackened alloy frame.
I don't think I'd pass it up.

5905's are a rare bird. A Roy Jinks letter confirmed that 484 units were produced with the adjustable sights. I have 1 with adjustable sights and 1 with fixed sights. I would be curious what your LGS price is on the 5905?
Cheers!!!

I'd like to know that too, now that I have one, of the 484 made I would bet that most were the adjustable sight model:
It came with one factory magazine, one 15 round mag from something else that didn't fit ( I left that one at my FFL) and the 30 rd aftermarket mag as shown.
It's not perfect, a couple of tiny scratches, no decernable holster wear, but it's actually in great shape for a 36 year old gun. I'd guess it was bought new and put in a drawer with maybe half a box of ammo put through it from the looks of the bore and rails.

5905 serial numbers?
According to a Roy Jinks letter the model 5905 had serial numbers in the range of TFR 6696 ~ 7179 with a total production of 484 although my math indicates 483.
It seems that my newly acquired 5905 has a serial number out of this range. What can this mean? Can Mr. Jinks be wrong? Is my 5905 the 484th produced with a different serial number? Or is it the 672nd 5905 produced?

That 30-rounder would make a nice accessory for my Camp 9! Who makes those?

Did she buy one of each shoe???
Like BAM said- she's your ex, I would think that her echoing advice would be more incentive to buy.
My collection got way more interesting following my divorce.

A search on a large auction site for "5903" will have a couple of National Magazine 30rd mags as well as MecGar 20rd versions.

Thanks- didn't know about the 30s. Just another thing for me to buy that I'll never use!

At $325 I jumped on it. With shipping and FFL transfer it cost me just under $400. Not quite like new but very close.

Holy cow!!! I have one of each (adjustable & fixed). Mine are like new, no box, but I value them between $700-800. One sold a few weeks ago on the big site for around $750
To answer your question on how many units were produced with fixed sights, my Jinks letter (for the fixed sight one) confirmed there was a second run of the 5905's. He didn't know the exact number produced but estimated it to be under 500. He did indicate the SN range.
Great find!!!
Cheers!!!

Hope this helps you out! My fixed sight one is on the lower end of the range. Yours is almost at the end of the range.
Cheers!!!

So with under of 1000 units produced it would appear that my 5905 may be one of the last produced in the second run of this model.
Finding one in such great condition half a continent away is extraordinary and thanks again TAROMAN!

My fixed sight 5905 is TFR7094, so tail end of the first batch. Thanks much for the further details on this fine piece!

Couldn't believe the luck
Spotted at a local gun store a pristine 5905 adjustable sight they picked up from an estate sale. Appears to only be factory fired, serial number right in the middle of the identified range. The ask, with two OEM blue steel mags and three stainless factory mags was under four bills. I couldn't pay fast enough and now it's mine. I've been after one for years and would have paid much more to secure it.

As much as I dislike the adjustable sights, I wouldn't have hesitated myself on that deal - very well done.

I have a 915, would there be any issues running a 3913 slide on it?
