Default SW22 Victory Take Down Screw P/N

Just a quick post to give the part number of the S&W take down screw part number. I had the loosening problem and contacted S&W and they sent me a new take down screw with a Nylok patch. It works and I wanted to share the info.

Yes, I know that there are threads that date way back and run on and on about how to fix the problem but, speaking from my own experience, I couldn't find as good a solution as this screw. No torque wrench to encumber field takedown and reassembly. Just snug it up.

Part Number: 440440000
Description: Screw, Takedown SW22 W/Nylok Patch

Just go my Victory back from the mother ship - I had an issue with the screw not coming out and a missing extractor. I also got the new screw when it came back - shout out to the Customer Service / Warranty folks - quick turn around!!! Shoot it today and very impressed

I got a new replacement from S&W a few weeks ago. I went thru S&W customer service on their website and received the new take down screw in a couple of days free of charge.

I have been using the o-ring and blue locktite method with my original since day 1 ownership. Still works great, but I figured having a spare on hand "just in case" would be a good idea.

I put the o-ring on with nothing else. Shot 100 rounds and barrel remained tight. Broke down the gun for this cleaning and tightened the screw back down. Next trip will tell the tale.

Default Victory take-down screw

Spoke to them Friday. It was kind of obvious that the CSR had been down this road many times with people bitching about the screw and its' super-torqueing. We got to talking, when I made it clear I didn't want to return the pistol, he suggested I just get ahold of a 1/8" hex attachment for a socket wrench. I did and was able to muscle off the old and semi-disfigured screw (gee it was on tight). A free replacement, of course, is on the way. My faith has been restored.

Glad to hear all is on the mend. The gun is so much fun to shoot. You need to get to that part of owning it.

Such a nice almost perfect design target gun with a great trigger and barrel for superb accuracy for so little money and very well built as well. The Victory has been a Hit but with a bug in it. The rubber O-ring works very well I think we all of have tried it know. The new Nylon screw would be nice addition to the cure list as well. S@W Victory owe all owners this much for sure. Every owner should be sent about 5 of these screws as spares. Thats my view.

My new screw arrived yesterday, but it looks like a regular screw with a patch of red material. It had the listed p/n on the envelope. I was expecting a screw with a nylon insert. Is the red Loctite?

My replacement screw had red Nylok on the threads not locktite. I'll see if it holds next weekend.

How "quick" is quick?

I sent my NIB, never been shot Victory back to S&W almost a month ago. Called for an update and was told it was in the pistol shop, but no update. Customer Service guy said 6-8 weeks.

All it needed was a new barrel take down screw.
