6906 find in W. Pa.
Meeting some shooting buddies for dinner tonight ..... stopped at a LGS on the way.
Gunsmith says he just took something in I might be interested in..... brings a dirty, carried a little, shot a little 6906 (round trigger guard) out of the back. Should clean up to 95%+
Guy sold it is in the middle of a divorce...... raising some cash. NO price on the gun...... "what are you looking for" I ask ..... long moment of silence.....
$265? " OK, will make a nice truck gun" I say
Going back tomorrow to do the paper work!!!!
TTSH..... if you see this .... you see Pa. is a great state to live in with cheap 3rd Gen guns!!!!!!

You sure seem to find some nice deals, glad to see you're spending money for new display items on your half of the table. Keep April 22 open, should be fun. Larry

I was surprised...... expecting $300+........my guess is they made $65 on a 1 hour investment of $200.
Only one mag would make it hard to move IMO.......especially when you've got a case full of new "plastic" in the $300-500 price range.... with 2 mags/gun.

Well got over to do the paperwork and pick it up this morning.........
VAU so 1994-95.......dirty as heck, needed the dental picks!!!
Cleaned up nicely.....
On the barrel (in the ejection port) is a very-lightly engraved number about or < 2mm high......973661.... can only read under a magnifying glass.....
the 7 has a line through the leg so it look a bit like 97-3661.... doesn't match the serial #.
couple of very minor handling marks.......... overall excellent shape for a 23 year old gun!!!!! Less than $285 OTD

Sad to say that I paid considerably more for an in the box example a few weeks ago. Your find does speak to the fact that if you frequent the same shops, you become known for your preferences.

The seller said he had the box and extra magazine..... but it's at his "old" house...... so I might score the rest..... but not counting on it. Bet she burns the box and throws the mag away!!!!
Scored a 4" 63 the same way at another shop........since the last "Bunching"
See you 4/22 ?????

LOL.... this 6906 after a good scrubbing would pass " the TTSH test"
The "truck gun" things been a running joke for me ....... after 15 years with a rugrat hauling mini-van...... and with the oldest off to college.... our new "utility vehicle" is a Black Nissan Frontier crew cab with cap and the Pro 4X package..... nicknamed "the Beast" ......... my wife tell everyone I'm in my "truck phase" and I tell her "I can finally look for a truck gun. ........just wish I could (still) put a gun rack in the crew cab window"!!!!!!

How did I miss this thread until this morning? Must have been out dealing with our nasty New England winter weather. Another fun storm moving in today.
After so many similar stories, I have no remaining doubt at all that Pennsylvania is the place to score big in the used firearms realm. Not only do you have a generally healthy, unrestricted used gun marketplace but you have the sweet advantage of those pawn shops too. I guess you know how lucky you are!
But would that 6906 you found pass my very high " TTSH Standard" for acceptable condition (i.e., good enough to make it worthwhile for a poor, old, destitute, retired senior citizen on a puny fixed income to purchase it)?
You said it has some post-factory engraving on it, albeit a small, discrete number. That counts against it in the highly-discriminating, half-senile mind of old TTSH. Exactly how much it would count against it would require a photo. And only one magazine and no box? Hmmmmmm. Still, the price is probably good enough to justify picking it up as a parts gun at a minimum.
Okay, throw in a couple extra magazines and a box or two of ammo and maybe I'd go for it!

BAM your wife will worry when you enter the sports car phase. "Truck guns" just describe guns which have been used or abused and are so inexpensive that they must be rescued, because who can't use another gun. 4/22, reminds me that I should buy one to bring, if I can find one.

TTSH the number is so small that I had to use a "Inspector Clouseau" magnifying glass* to determine it is actually a number........ not just tiny scratch...or imperfection as the barrel has kind of a matt finish.
and as I stated if the evil, soon to be, ex-wife hasn't trashed the rest..... there's still a chance.......
For $265 it was priced right to become a 'Truck gun".......
Old_Cop..... after 20 years still have my 5 speed/manual 1997 Toyota Celica.......bought it 3 months before my eldest was born........ as....LOL..... in no uncertain terms I was told my new car had to take a "baby seat"..... hard to find a manual transmission these days..... can't decide if "paddle shifters" count!
4/22
*footnote the glass was my Dad's and rested on his office desk when he was a Police Capt./now on mine!

Don't hold your breath waiting on that mysterious missing box (filled with spare magazines, of course) to show up. That line... "we expect the box and spare mags for this gun to arrive any minute now"... has been played on me more times than I can count. I'm still waiting for the first such box (filled with spare mags) to arrive.
