4006 model number
Hi guys, I'm Sabino and I'm writing from Italy
First of all, I apologize for my poor english.
I'm the proud owner of two S&W guns, a 28-2 revolver and a 4006 3rd gen. pistol.
The 4006's model number is TVH5086. May you help me to know the year of production? Thanks a lot

Nice looking 4006. How's the availability of .40 ammo in Italy?

The 4th Standard Catalogue of S&W describes dating from triple alpha serial numbers as "an educated guess", and advises that a factory letter is definitive. If you have the original box, that would help. That said maybe 1991. It was produced 1990 to 1999. Thanks to Jim Supica and Richard Nahas for writing that book.

Thank you, 4006 is a lovely gun. Il like it so much.
No great problems for .40 ammo in Italy. It is no so popular like 15-10 years ago, but you can find boxes on the shelves in many shops.
It is 10 years that lot of people say ".40 is dead" here in Italy. But it resists. I think it depends we don't have access to9x19 surplus ammo as you have in America. We are not allowed to use 9x19, only Army and Police are. We only have 9x21 IMI. So "exotic and dismissed calibers" like .40 stand.
