Default SW 411 prevent a problem

So I got a wild hair to have my 411 cerakoted. The shop's gunsmith said he didn't want to mess with tearing it down. Something about a potential can of worms.

I did some research and can't quite come to the EXACT problem, but I believe it is related to the mag release button.

Is it plastic? Does it thread on? pop on?

I have tried all the common gun parts numerich, midway, gunparts.

Some seem to have the 411 listed as working with the later 3rd gen buttons...some do not.

If I am correct, the 3rd gen (4 number models) all have metal threaded mag buttons.

Can the 2nd gen be retrofitted?

The S&W parts list indicates the same catch nut (#902060000) is used on the 459 (2nd gen), 5904 (3rd gen) and 915/411 (also 3rd gen). It is metal and it screws on.
