Question Model 4013 style semi-autos

I was wondering if anyone has any idea why S&W no longer produces the 4013/3913 style weapons? I don't care for the M&P style semi-autos. Anyone know if they have any future plans to resume manufacture of this type of weapon?

I'm with you, I prefer the all metal guns vs. the mostly plastic pistols but don't hold your breath waiting (and wanting) S&W to start making them again.

The current craze for the (ugly) lightweight black plastic pistols, & their lower cost, coupled with the higher production costs & expertise needed for assembly of the old style 3rd Gens doesn't seem to add to the likelyhood of seeing them produced again.

Just keep your eyes open for those sparsely used 3rd Gen gems still out there & snatch them up when you see them is about the only recourse nowadays.

Welcome to the Forum !!

.

PS: You know that the 4013 was made in a large frame single-stack & the medium frame double-stack 4013TSW ?

BLUEDOT37-
I know! Since I purchased my 4013 I've been searching for more. Have had to stop myself from buying more right away. Maybe one every 6 months or so. I'm watching about 10 on gunbroker right now.

Yes, I got the 3014TSW. Didn't know that until after I started reading up on them though. Hopefully, the double stack won't be too big for my hand. If it is, I might have to switch to the 3914.
