S&W Day at LGS
One of the LGS in MA will be having a S&W day this Saturday. They'll have factory reps, deals on various models, and show and tell.
Who wants to join me in a protest outside?
We could hold signs that say "Make S&W Great Again, Bring Back The 3rd Gen Semi Autos."

If you want your head to -EXPLODE- ...try testing their knowledge base on 1-2-3rd Gens or egads... PC guns.
It won't be a pleasant experience. I have spoken of my experience with a paid, traveling S&W company rep and that was like SIX-plus years ago, zero chance they have gotten better.

I'm guessing it was Four Seasons 'cause if it was at Mass Firearms School, I'd have been there. I love shooting other people's guns with other people's ammo... for free, no less!
I didn't hit our local (Sturbridge, MA) gun show this weekend either because there's a much bigger, better one next weekend. I'm broke anyway after a very expensive January and February, made much worse by my Chevy truck's (the "Money Pit's") very expensive brake failure fiasco.
BTW, it was at a similar S&W Day at Four Seasons back in 2014 that I bought my first two 3rd Gens... a really nice Model 6906 and a really "used & abused" Model 4046. The S&W Reps tried to help me decide between the two. It was comical for sure as they were all about S&W's plastic wonder guns. They ended up recommending the 6906 (of course - it was lighter and pristine) but remarked that the 4046 could be used as a very effective bludgeon when I ran out of ammo... ... and on a dollars per pound basis, it was the very best buy in the entire shop... ... so I ended up taking both!

Massachusetts? So they can show off all 4 and a half models that are legal for sale in that state?

I think I would really enjoy a S&W day at a LGS. I'm so "out of it" regarding their current offerings it would probably be very educational for me. I doubt that they could tempt me with anything except maybe some free coffee and a doughnut or perhaps a slice of pizza later in the day.

Wow TTSH, your first venture in to these guns we love was literally just a few years ago...?!
Maybe we need a new thread!

I had one young S&W salesman tell me that there were no revolvers made (presumably by anyone) for other than six shots (No five shots, no seven shots, no eight shots , ten shots for rimfire). OK, I immediately recalibrated my expectations to zero.

It was Four Seasons and I didn't go. As anyone who has been there knows, it's a small (size), high volume shop and is crowded on a normal Saturday. On a special manufacturer's day, the place would be packed like a sardine can.
For those that haven't been there, they have one of those deli "Take a Number" dispensers in the hallway outside the door. On week days it's 50-50 whether you'll need to use it, unless it's lunch time! On a Saturday, take a number and wait. And wait some more.
Anyway, I didn't get there, didn't get to Sturbridge, and will be in Alabama next weekend. I checked and there are no gun shows near where I'll be staying.

Oh, I've told my story here enough times that most members are already more than sick of it. But it is a fact. I bought my first two 3rd Gens on July 2, 2014... almost exactly one year after I re-entered the world of handgun collecting/ accumulating/ shooting.

My very 1st handgun was a Nine shot revolver in 22 made by Ruger over 50 years ago now. Even Smith makes a 357 with 8 rounds in a revolver. The model 627 which is my dream gun. I have been saving for a while now for one of them with a 5" barrel on it. Its a shame when salespeople who are supposed to know something about even there own products are totally clueless.

My world is upside down right now...
Somehow I pictured a young TTSH (say, mid-50s or so) getting one of the experimental pre-39s hot off the assembly line, then stopping on the way home for some $.29/gal gas.
2014??? Yikes!

Oh come on guys!!! Just because I am hideously old and grew up in the shadow of S&W's factory all those many years ago doesn't mean I got anything "experimental" in my youth! It wasn't like that at all. Well, there was this one gun... but it was a revolver, not a semi-auto. Yes, my great uncle and some of Dad's friends worked there, but I grew up shooting his (Dad's) Smith & Wessons, not my own. While I held a MA FID card from the youngest age one could obtain one, it wasn't until after college that I got my first MA LTC and was actually able to start my own collection.
And yes, I do remember buying plenty of gasoline as low as 24.9¢/gallon as I commuted to college after my first year.
