Default New Victory

Hey
Bought a Victory on Sunday. Traded in my SR22, did pretty good.
What I like about buying from LGS is that you can haggle on trade-in. Let my 12 yr old grandson haggle-he's good.
Another positive is that they take the gun out of stock so you can open the box and check if the slide works, trigger is good and other stuff which you can't do buying online. No difference in price.
Took it to the range on Monday, after a few shots to sight in I destroyed the "X" on the target.
Had no trouble removing the set screw to clean it, nor did it loosen during shooting.
I do have a word of caution. The LGS gave me 100 rd Browning BPR 40gr 1435fps hollow points. Junk. More than half of the 40 I shot wouldn't load due to the hollow point, the lead bent. Changed to CCI std velocity RN, all 100 of my own CCI fired without a problem, and killed the "X".
All in all I'm very happy with the Victory.

Same here. Shot mine today. Ran 250 rounds through it with four brands of ammo and not one problem. Had to adjust the rear sight a bit. Shot it at 7, 10, 15 and 25 yards. Very accurate. The M&P 22lr I sold to buy the victory can't come close to this gun. Very happy I chose a victory.

Didn't get out to 25 yds yet, eyes won't let me. Will wait for a red dot.

Len917, My eyes are only 70 years old, and I put the red dot on my Victory last year...best thing I ever did. I have been able to shoot a 50 round group at 25 yards that can be covered with a silver dollar (and 2 dimes...I some times flinch!).

I originally had the TruGlo red/green 4 reticle sight, which was, for $50 excellent. I installed a Burris Fastfire III and it is even better, although I liked the ability of the TruGlo to have the green dot.

Get a reflex sight ASAP.

Unhappy

Apparently Browning label ammo is made by the Winchester factory. FN owns all these companies at this time. Browning 22LR ammo shares the same problems experienced with Winchester 22LR. Hopefully, FN will get all the kinks worked out eventually. The move from Alton IL to Mississippi lost all the experienced workers.

I'm going to shoot the balance of the Browning rounds thru my Mossberg 342K bolt rifle.

I'm looking at that Truglo and a Tasco or BSA around the same price. Both have 30mm lens. I too at age 73 have the same problem.
I have a Millett red dot on my model 15 4"bbl and at 25 yds its super. Red dots are the greatest thing since the zipper.
Thanks for the info

Has anyone here heard of, or know about FIELD SPORT red dots?
The run in the $20-$30 range. They look similar to the TRS 25.
Found their website but no Dealer List, not much in specs, etc.

They must be great guns. Two people in my church have bought one recently. The guy bought his with the threaded barrel to be ready for whey the law changes on silencers. The woman has a halo and optics on her gun. I think Smith really got it right this time with the Victory.

Hi there. I have a field sport. I ordered it off Amazon. So far, it's great!! Had it for about 3 wks now with no issues. Easy to zero and it holds it well. I had another optic on my Victory, but moved it to my 15-22 and didn't want to invest a lot of money into plinking so I bought this one. I bought it after watching this video. He also has a follow up video fro this optic.

Worst case scenario, if it doesn't work out then I"m only out $20, but it looks promising.

Here it is on Amazon.

Good luck.

Good luck.
What model did you buy? What is the size of the obj. lens?
I'm looking for about 30mm lens.
These questions aren't answered anywhere in their specs.

The only ammo I have had problems with in my Victory is some Aguila that I bought. It works fine in my revolvers but I think is a little too long in the Victory and won't feed from the magazine. Mine actually likes Winchester bulk and that was the ammo used to shoot this group:

I have been having the same problem with the Aguila.

My Victory's main diet is Aguila Super Extra. I haven't had any problems with it, and it's as accurate as CCI Standard Velocity (at 15 yards - haven't compared the two 25 yards yet). The Aguila also runs great in our Ruger Mark III 22/45 Lite. I can't think of any of my guns that have had a problem with it. I consider it the functional and accuracy equivalent of CCI MiniMags. Cheaper and easier to find than MiniMags too. It is my go-to plinking and informal paper target ammo.

do you think group size at 15myards matters?
if i was willing to shoot bulk, i'm sure it would be ok at 15 yards.

My Victory has no problem with the Aguila. My Victory's accuracy challenges have nothing to do with the ammo or the Victory.

Keep leaning towards the Bushnell. But I just may get either Tasco or BSA cheapy get as much time out if it until it dies-then go for the Bushnell.

I have a Sig Romeo 3 on mine. Tried some CCI sub-sonic and it did not feed on 1st round on the 2nd mag. This and the Agu are a bit over 25 mm long compared to some Fed Auto match that is just under. Not sure if its the length or wax coating or new Tandemkross extended mag base that is giving me trouble.

Kennethk Welcome to the forum from Canada. I suggest shooting the CCI-SV ammo instead. The sub-sonic has less powder in it and may not cycle your gun with enough pressure to eject properly.
