Default Smith Wesson 659 - what sight?

I am not too knowledgeable on 2nd gen 9mm, so can someone tell me what type of front sight is on this 659 slide? I was informed on another site, it seems like the original sight was ground down and then an aftermarket sight was bolted on being secured with an allen bolt.

Let me know your thoughts.

Looks to me that the original front sight is still in place and the new sight has been pinned with a roll pin. Maybe the rear sight has been changed too since the front sight is much higher.

I see non-original front and rear sights. As to the brand or model of sights, I have no idea.

The correct front sight is a ramp that is integral to the slide. I can still see it, or at least part of it. Without removal of the thing pinned or hex'ed over the top of the original and accurate measuring, it is impossible to determine if the original has been ground down.

If it has not been ground down or drilled through to pin that other sight in place, you could return your pistol to its original condition by finding a correct rear sight, provided, of course, that the rear dovetail has not been altered.

I agree with js. The decocker has been updated to a 3rd Gen, no phillips head.

I think you have a few options. Go with original sights and have a pin hole in front sight. See if a Gunsmith could install Novak sights with a couple of dovetail cuts.

Novaks .45 Shop had some input for the 3rd Gen guns. A million Novak sights sit on S&W autos.
