Model 469 two tone
Made a trade for this model 469 in two tone. This gun shipped in 1984 with a TAD serial number prefix. However there doesn't seem to be any information in the SCSW fourth edition about the two tone guns. I have read that they were only made for one year. Could someone confirm that for me?

I thought the TED numbers were in 1989. It is a good looking gun and I don't think I have seen one before.

Cant make out the model number in the pic, is it a 669 frame ? Or perhaps someone wanted a pinto and nickeled the frame.

Sorry the SN prefix is TAD. The model is 469 and the frame is bare alloy, not nickel.

IIRC the 469 only came in blue or nickel where the 669 was a SS upper mated to a painted silver lower but thats only from memory.
Is the lower bare aluminum , silver painted or clear coated ?

After a bit more research, I've come to the conclusion that someone stripped the frame from whatever coating it had originally. They did a really good job because you can't tell it was ever anything but bare alloy. Even the sideplate assembly was stripped. Also found out that the Model 908 did come for one year as a two tone in 1997. That gun looks a lot like my 469 if you look past the rounded trigger guard. Well, I like it and even more now that I have some original grips for it.

I like the look. But doesnt having the frame stripped of its anodizing leave it vulnerable to wear and damage?

I don't think so because it's aluminum alloy.

IIRC the anodizing "hardens" the surface...................
Allegheny Arms and Gun Works does re-anodizing....or you can Cerakote it
I'd take the opportunity to round the trigger guard......... I like it with the Pachmayr's
