The Model 61 was never very popular and were made between 1970-73. Yours will be worth about $450, only because it is complete with the original box, case, and paperwork. Cool little gun though.

Find the model number on the gun itself (do this will all your father's S&Ws) and please let us know what it actually says? In this case, you have a Model 61, 61-1, 61-2, or 61-3. This is very important info to a collector.

Default It's a 61-3

Hi,

I checked the gun and box, looks like it's a model 61-3. What difference does the 3 signify? Thanks.

It will mean its a third series issue of that model which will have several differences from the 1st and 2nd issue. It may end up being the best one of the bunch but I am not positive of that fact for sure.

There are folks looking for these complete for sure. Recent auction sale of $490 for 61-3 complete. Should be a good guide. Several sales less than that as well.
Good Luck

Yeah, I've got one just like it but it is not a complete package like this one (and it's probably ANIB if the above photos are any indication). I'd love to own that one myself.

Nice little Escort.

I picked up a 61-3 awhile back, it is a great little shooter. I would like to have the complete setup like you have, but as indicated they seem to fetch a premium.

I have some experience with this series, and can tell you they routinely bring more than the book values listed. Not even close. Especially for the most sought after models complete.

Do you know yet if there are any more .22 semi auto's? Models 622, 2206?
