4586
I was really tempted tonight. LGS has a fairly nice 4586 with night sights, two mags, and the original box. Asking $389, but I may be able to get down a bit. Worth the investment?

If there's nothing obviously wrong with it that's a good price!
I'd grab it if I didn't already have one.
I've really come to like mine & had to force myself to "give it a rest" & put another pistol in rotation for range time.

RUN and buy it!!!! Why are you still here reading this?!?!?
A .45 full size for that price...holy smokes!!!! Deduct the two original mags and the box value, and you have an all steel .45 that will last 3 lifetimes for under $300.
If you don't want, please share the location. Even with @ $40 shipping and transfer fee, this is still so far under the market it will be worth it to anyone.

I have a 4583 that I like well enough, but I would much rather it were steel. Hopefully you'll have already bought it by the time you read this.

Everybody's idea of "fairly nice" is a little different... ... but assuming it is reasonably clean cosmetically and otherwise undamaged, I'd go for that! But I am a sucker for almost any decent stainless steel 3rd Gen in its original factory box under $400.

I just paid my credit card off and I also have a line on a 4586 for $370. I'm tempted to grap it Monday morning. I was holding out for a 4006 TSW though!

Where are you guys finding 4586's for under $500-$600?!? That is insane. Consider yourselves blessed.
When the plastic ones go for under $400, everyone trips over themselves to buy. These deals are awesome! I feel like Bud's is having used pistols specials at LEO trade in prices all over again!!!

Everyone values pistols differently. Many are stuck in the past. I have read so many "that's too much" on this forum. Has anybody factored in the cost of a new steel .45 by any major gun maker? Decent 45's cost from $800.00 and up. My opinion is that I would buy a well used 3G S&W before a brand new Glock any day of the week..

While I bought a new 4586 with night sights for $580 plus tax in 1996, roughly 15 years ago police surplus 4586s for $279 (+ or - $20 depending on condition) delivered to your FFL were the talk of this forum. All those surplus 4586s are bound to keep the value of 4586s below the value of 3rd generation automatics that were not traded in in large numbers. However, I hope my excellent condition 4586 in its original box is worth quite a bit more than a holster worn trade in.

" [...] investment?" Doubtful, but it is a lot of gun steel for the price and one of the most reliable automatics ever made.

I apologize for the late reply, but due to work and illness, I've not been able to get back there until today. It's still there, the guy behind the counter says there hasn't been much interest, and a real bonus, they're taking 10% off the price of all their used guns. So $389 minus $38.90, we're looking at $350 for gun, original box, and three magazines. They've got it set back until I get in Saturday. Now I just have to convince the wife.
