Default First Duty Automatic

My first Duty Weapon was a Smith and Wesson Model 10 HB. In the early 90's the department went with DAO 5946. I guess I carried it for about 5 years until the DAO 4043 was issued. I bought the 5946 when we swapped over.

Yep, great guns. I too carried and loved third Gens. Mine were 4006, 4043 and PC CQB.

Looks to be in great shape for being carried 5 years.

I didn't buy the 4043 because I saw examples of the alloy frame developing cracks.

When the recoil springs dont get changed on a regular basis, or the frames are insufficiently lubed, you can crack an aluminum frame. Although Ive come across very few. The 3rd gen aluminum frames, especially in the TSW series are very durable.

My duty guns were the 4506-1, 4516, 4566, 3913 and 4513TSW which I am still carrying in retirement. Regards 18DAI

My first duty auto was an HK P7M8. The members of our small, rural Dept. (all five of us!) carried our own weapons prior to being issued the HK's. I carried a S&W 586, others carried S&W model 19's, a model 66, and one guy carried his 4" Python. Under the advice of the twp. solicitor, we were required to carry township-owned weapons. This took place in 1985.
