Hi Guys, just joined the forum last week. I have been collecting for about 30 years with mostly WWII guns but have a nice collection of S&W's also. I got my first 6904 back years ago new and the others I have added used over the years. I would love for somebody to help me date my collection. I confess have one Glock 22 but I really love the feel of real steel in my hand!

Nice collection. Give S&W customer service a call or chat with them on their site. They've always been quick to provide that info.

I checked my reference and can't find any of those letter prefixes. An email to Smith Customer listing the model and serial numbers should get you what you need. Check out the Smith and Wesson site for an address.
Sorry I couldn't do more. Anyway, welcome to the forum, it's one of the better ones of this type.

Send that information via email to S&W and wait a day or two for a reply with the answers. I like that 5903 btw.

Welcome! Prefix TCE is likely from 1989, TVF from 1992, TZY from 1993 and VCV from 1997. The last one is newer than anything published but several members here track these prefixes by age and may let you know more specifically.

Also, if you have the original boxes, we can tell you their exact ages. Hope this is helpful.
