Squishy 469
Well there's one item about this pistol, I definitely don't care for and I have yet to shoot it. The back strap doesn't fit tightly and gripping it feels squishy.
Probably too late to send it in for warranty work.
Maybe I need to fill the gap with some JB Weld?

Does your pistol fall into the serial number range and show any of the issues of the recall discussed here? - Smith and wesson 669
That would perhaps be a way to get it to S&W and also have your issue addressed which could be related to the obvious hammer switch.

The serial number block sited in this recall took place before this Smith was born.
Even with the hammer spring removed, the slop in the back strap remains the same. It still has the same .032'' gap between the frame and strap.

I suppose you could always try a new insert if they become available. - Smith & Wesson Insert S&W 469 669

When they first came out a lot of us young coppers bought them and had the same complaint. We ended up wrapping one width of electrical tape around the middle. While ugly, it solved the issue.

I was thinking more along the lines of a black wire tie.

I had a 469 that went back for the recall. Didn't have your issue before or after its trip to Smith.

I suggest looking for after market stocks for this gun in wood which will probably make it feel much better as well as look better also.

I managed a pretty simple fix. I sized the back strap radius to a similar sized o-ring and fit a portion of ring to fill the gap at the top of the strap. With a dab of contact cement on the frame and filler piece, the gap problem went away. It now has a solid feeling grip like it should.

I have two 469s that I purchased in the past couple of years, and both had worn out, squishy backstraps.
I replaced both with new ones and no more problems. I think I got the replacements from Numrich.
