I have an SDVE 40 cal. with factory grips. I have found that my hand gets very sore firing this. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do about it? Does anyone have any suggestions on replacement grips that may be better?

I don't know anything about the specific gun, but I've had a similar issue with some of my 3rd Gen semi autos. I found that putting a Pachmyar Slip On Grip helped with that and made the slippery Delrin grips more manageable.

They come in various sizes. You might also look to see if Pachmyar or Hogue make a specific SD grip adapter.

You are dealing with a pistol grip which cannot be altered (with the exception of grip sleeves) and a round which has inherently harsh felt recoil in certain pistols. If you like the pistol, my advice is to trade it for the 9mm version. Your hand will thank you.

The main reason why I got rid of my Glock 23 and have eschewed buying any .40 3rd Gen guns.

Well, that and it was a Glock.

I was shooting with a young new gun owner who had only been exposed to all those plastic wonder 9 pistols, that are all the rage now . I let him shoot a Walther P38 , Ruger Blackhawk , S&W model 64 and S&W model 58 , Know what he liked most about all of them.....the nice custom ivory, walnut and rosewood grips each sported . He kept looking at his all plastic pistol like it had developed warts ! He told me he wanted to get a revolver ...go figure !
