457 guide rod
Is the 457 guide rod steel or plastic? Was it always a nested spring setup?
Thanks,
Rosewood

Mine has a steel guide rod. The guide rod plunger is plastic. The mag release is plastic and is to be replaced when disassembled. Sights were plastic. Mine is two-tone. Blue upper, silver frame.
Mine has the nested spring setup. I believe it is called a 4th Revision with the nested springs. Prior versions were single spring.

I've had four 457s at garlic various times. All have had nested springs, metal guide rods with plastic tips. They all also had cheap plastic sights and other cost saving parts.
NOTE: I hate the autocorrect on my Andoid tablet!!!!

Believe 457 was always nested - it came out in 1996(?) and the other smaller 45s - 4516-2 and 4513TSW (and later 4013) were all the same nested spring setup as early as 1993 I believe.

Apparently Yes, the parts catalog only shows the dual/nested recoil as a part for it unlike the 4516 which shows the single & dual spring setups.

Midway has the 457 guide rod in stock. It is about 1/8" longer than needed, but it works fine in the 4013 single stack frame. Everywhere has been out of stock of the 4013 guide rod. A little dremel/angle grinder work and some blueing will fix it right up.
Thanks for the help!
