What is with Numrich?
HELP: Model 39-2, all of sudden shooting left.
Ordered a Barrel Bushing from Numrich. Should I send it back? Ten bucks. Maybe, glad to get it?
NOT top of the line.

Send it back or try a few hours of tumbling it in a brass tumbler. Maybe soak in some Kroil and polishing. But I would only do that if I were desperate. So send it back. Maybe they will replace it with one in better shape.

I'm surprised they even sent that one.

I've gotten some parts from them in the past that were obviously used, didn't notice that the description indicated that they could be used condition.
I don't see that in the description on your invoice.

That is definitely a used-questionable as opposed to used-serviceable part, but like the man said, throw it in the tumbler and see what happens. Just costs a little electricity.

Its possible that part has been sitting for many years so I would put it in my tumbler and see how it comes out. Certainly can't hurt it any more then it already is.

Their return and refund policy is very good, so personally, I'd return the part. I had to do that once and they were very helpful.

I doubt the folks that pick the parts have any idea what things are or should be. They just go the bin with the number and grab the first one that comes to hand. They do have a pretty good refund policy. The next one should be inspected..

Pretty much everything they have is used unless its listed as being new. No one currently manufacturers most of the stuff they sell. There are a number of new items for common wear parts and common guns(1911's) but most parts are from used guns.

I guess it is the luck of the draw! The barrel bushing I ordered arrived yesterday and it was in barely used condition, just about brand new. It solved the binding problems I had with the old bushing.

For the specific pistols I deal with, that were discontinued in the '90's, everything has been brand new. I think they buy a lot of the parts stock from the manufacturers as well.

Over the years I have bought a bunch of parts from them, only issue I ever had was a couple sets of S&W target stocks that turned out to be SILE after market. Sent them back for a refund....no drama.

One day these parts may be hard to get. I wonder when that "day" is going to show up?

Plus, they have a very weird shipping method. I bought a few times from them, and they would ship in different shipments, tiny little items, that could all fit in the same envelope. Initially, I thought, "probably different warehouse, or separate shipping date." Neither, nor. Same sender address, same shipping date, and they have done it about 3 times so far. Super mysterious tactic...

I've noticed that too. I recently ordered a firing pin retainer, main spring, and firing pin spring for my 457 project. The firing pin retainer came one day, the other two parts came the next day.
Doesn't seem very efficient to me, but what do I know?

A while back, I got a rusty (not as rusty as yours) barrel bushing from Numrich...I soaked it in white vinegar overnight & it cleaned all the rust off; I rinsed it off & oiled it & it seems fine.

Numrich is always a **** shoot!
I ordered some Mossberg parts from them one time and they sent me grips for a S&W Mod. 39, they took it back and shipped me the correct parts but I always consider it miracle when the correct parts arrive the first time.

This is correct. Last I checked, they even state in their policy that most items will not be labeled as used on the website, and that you have to call in and specifically ask about each part to see if it's used or new. Most parts I have received from them have been used, and since they also ask for a premium price, I rarely shop with Numrich anymore. They do have a good return policy though.

Other than Numrich, where is a good place to buy used/new gun parts?

Calling S&W directly is probably the best method of getting new parts, though kind of a pain compared to the ease and convenience of an online retailer. 1-800-331-0852 ext 4125.
Midway is my favorite place to get new parts, they have an excellent website that is up-to-date on stock and prices that are very close to ordering from S&W.
Brownells is another retailer of new parts, but the website is notoriously out of touch with what's in stock and prices are generally much higher. I have had some fairly bad experiences with their customer service dept and received numerous damaged S&W factory grips from them, so I prefer Midway.
For used parts, eBay and Gunbroker can be good, but you have to find the deals and know what you are looking for. Gun kits are the best way to stock up on used parts cheap.

Bought a Browning HP 9m/m cheap with a "Bubba" bobbed hammer and wanted to change it. Most places wanted at least 70 bucks for a hammer but Numrich had a ring hammer for $29 so I bought it and received it in a few days. It looked great until I turned it over and it was rusted and slightly pitted on one side. I sanded the bad side to bare metal and re-blued it and it works great but I would be a little nervous buying from them again.
