Default Bought a Model 41 today - did I pay a fair price?

I had no intention of doing this but after shooting a few hundred rounds out of my 1978 Model 41, as I was leaving the gunshop I walked past another Model 41 on consignment. So I looked.

It's A137XXX (1971?), 5 1/4" barrel, original box (with correct SN and barrel length on it), one mag with metal follower, one mag with plastic follower. Some chips on the grips, a few thin blue spots on the barrel. Top of the front sight is shiny in the white; all blue is gone. The frame and slide are perfect.

It was $965 after tax. I figured that was about a $1200 gun, but maybe not.

A little carbide smoke will fix that front sight, and after that, shucks, you'll only see the sights, nothing else, pull the trigger, then enjoy the results. I think you did just fine.

As always, you won't know for sure until you shoot it.......hopefully, it will run like a swiss watch.

If the plastic follower is orange, it's most likely a 12 rounder, which will add to the value. Either way, sounds like you did OK.

The model 41 is the only semi-auto S&W I own. In my humble opinion, the best .22 ever made. I would have bought that 5" 70s built 41 in a heartbeat. Lets see a photo..
