Default 3913 hammer

I have a 3913 and am thinking of putting a full size hammer
on it, has anyone done it and is it difficult to do.
Thanks

I traded for the 3953 in this photo four or five years ago with member "XAVMECH". IIRC, he installed a 3906 hammer in the 3913 in the photo.

My gunsmith just did hammer swap from a 5904 to my 3914. The hammer struts needed to be switched, as well as timing the safety/decocker.

Default Hammer change

I've done this conversion on several 3913's over the years, as well as changing over to the single sided Safety/Decocker. I wouldn't say it's difficult, but there are a number of things that must be checked when doing this job, to insure proper function and safety of the pistol when finished. A person with good mechanical skills and basic gunsmithing tools should be able to tackle this with good results. Probably one of the more difficult tasks is finding the parts, what with the lack of 3rd GEN parts support from S&W these days. Once you decide on what you want, you can start your hunt. Numrich, Midway, Sarco and others might have what you need. Parts lists are on the Internet. You may be able to find what you need here on the Forum, by placing a WTB ad. I'll check and see what I've got in my stash.
