Made the mistake of stopping by one of my LGS this past weekend with cash in my pocket and sitting in their case was one of my "bucket list must have" guns LNIB at a unpassable price. S&W 1911SC Commander E Series. I don't believe the previous owner ever shot it, it's that perfect w/o a mark, nick or scratch on it! I have been wanting this gun for a couple of years now so in reality it wasn't an impulse buy, glad I snatched it up and can't wait to shoot it. I couldn't have imagined the detail that has gone into this gun and the trigger it has, this thing is as nice as any 3k gun I've ever handled, kudos to you S&W! The only negative is the turkey kept the really nice mags it came with and traded it with one no-name cheapy, but that's easily rendered. The obligatory pic.

Mine has been flawless. Here's a pic of it riding in it's leather.

That's sweet, now tell me where you got those grips? Never seen those on any of them!

Special ordered them. Thin grips and I wanted to make sure EVERYONE knew it was a S&W 1911 riding with me in case it peeked out

If you are interested, they were made by Ron at RMHknives.com. He is a true artisan and is worth every penny.

Beautiful guns. I've always been impressed that S&W thought to design their 1911 plat-form pistols using the much more robust and dependable external extractor, as opposed to the "ancient" internal design still used by all others. FN realized the advantages and switched to the external extractor for the Hi Power in 1962

I'm not brand loyal in anything except religion and politics, but I have no issue with an internal extractor, Colts been using them for ever and they work fine for them (I have several). Nice to see S&W enlarge the extractor to make it more reliable, so they say, I have a 1066 and a 1076 and have no issues with them extracting the spent case. It's all about marketing for the most part.
