I just acquired this 422 from a widow that was getting rid of a few of her husbands items. Paid $100 for it. I have not shot it yet, but was wondering if anyone knows anything about this pistol.

A step down from a 41/46, but still a nice .22LR. Supposed to be pretty accurate. I have seen one or 2 at my pistol league over the years. A 622 I think one was.

I won one once in a USPSA match. It shot O.K., but wasn't super accurate, and the trigger was about 6 1/2 pounds. I ended up trading it off after about a year or so.

$100! That's a bargain for sure. There is one just like it on GB right now at $300 and I figure it will bring around $400. These are great pistols. You've got a good example in the 4" with adjustable sights and some of the nicer wood grips I've seen on one. Mags are readily available as are replacement parts, though in that condition I doubt you'll be needing any anytime soon (maybe pick up an extra firing pin). These pistols are easy to adapt to suppressors as well by changing out the barrel nut. Mine have all been extremely reliable with most ammo. Shoot it and enjoy.

The 422's, 622's and 41/46's all share one thing in common. They use the same magazines which are fairly easy to obtain. For $100.00 you downright stole that gun. Good for you.

Agreed - for $100 you stole it. They are fantastic little .22s. I've put the thread adaptors on both of mine and they often wear the suppressor when out in the woods looking for rabbits. For whatever reason, they were a flash in the pan and never caught on. I guess the Ruger's were so entrenched, that it was difficult to get many to stray away. Nowdays, there's so many little .22s it seems there's no following at all.

Your little pistol is a beautiful piece of what will one day be history. Until then - shoot it, clean it and enjoy! Stock up on magazines while we're in a gun friendly period as well. When demand is high, they are made of unobtainium and priced accordingly.

Years ago, on advice of others, I picked up a spare firing pin and spring but haven't needed them yet.

Excellent price I just paid 4x as much for a 6" model. Don't dry fire it alot. Mine really likes standard velocity ammo - huge difference in accuracy and reliability between it and high velocity ammo.

I like the muzzle nut on the 422 because it can be replaced with one which permit the attachment of a suppressor. Make a very quiet suppressed pistol!

How did you attach to the top of the pistol in the middle? I like my 422 but wish I could attach a toy every once in a while.

I myself would shoot CCI SV thru it as they are a fairly accurate gun. Very well made as well. They sell for around $400.00- $600.00 up here in Canada depending on the condition of them.

I would rather have a 422 than the newer S&W 22s. I've had a
few of them, mostly the 4" with adj sights. They take a little
getting use to because they are light compared to other 22s. I
found them to be accurate and dependable. I've only had one
622, a 6" that was also a good shooter. Much better pistol than
22a. I suppose it cost to much to produce and was dropped.Only
minus point on them is if you beat them around the finish on
the alloy will wear fairly easy. I have set of the plastic grips off
a fixed sight model that I use on mine to save the fancy woods.

You have to drill and tap for that rail.

The rails are typically available on Gunbroker and EBAY.

That one is installed 180 degrees from the way I install mine. Mine is on a 2206TGT that comes from the factory drilled and tapped.(2206 upper right).
