Picked this up for 250.00,its used but in decent cond.it has a couple scratches but is stainless so might try and polish the gun.I really like the feel of these, never shot one,its 9mm that I like, ammo is cheap.Came with one mag and no box,are these good pistols, opinions welcome.

Horrible gun. Send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly.

Very popular third generation Smith, probably only second in popularity to the 3913. If you haven't already thought to do so, I suggest replacing springs in it. Good luck.

Congrats! I'm guessing you haven't shot it yet or you'd know how great that pistol is! 😉

As others have said, they are great guns. Because they are so heavy and shoot 9mm, they are very stable and very accurate. I love taking mine to the range because it makes me look like an expert shooter.
It's not a lot of fun to carry, but it is a lot of fun to shoot.
Enjoy it.

I see you use a "grip sleeve" on one of your 5906. I use them on my 39xx guns because they give such a good feel. The best grips I have on any 3rd gen are the Pachmyars on my 6906. I wish someone had made them for the 39xx guns because the Hogues aren't nearly as nice.
I had to make due with the Pachmyar grip sleeve.

Thanks guys for the info!Seems like a tight solid pistol. No I havent shot it yet,it is pretty heavy but wont be a carry gun for me as I have Colt govt 380 for carry.2 of these came into the local small gun shop from an older gent, identical except one had the square triggerguard, this one I liked better,my brother took the other one, he thought both were a great deal, both in same basic cond.I bet I can polish this with Mothers mag polish and make it look very nice. This was a very small bait/gunshop in the sticks maybe thats why the small price!TNZ71 those are very nice 5906s!

Nice pickup. $250 is an awesome price. The Smith DA 9s are awesome. I have a 6904 which holds its own with pretty much any other DA/SA gun. I've shot a friend's 5906 and it's everything the 6904 is... just a little smoother, tamer and easier.
