Brothers please forgive me
With good condition/affordable 3rd Gens hard to find locally in 2017.
I have strayed to the dark side, I have purchased two pieces of Tupperware so far this year.
The first was a cute little BG 380, and today a 9mm Shield. Oh lord what have I become.
Today is all we have, live it to the fullest!

Sorry but I really think the "Tupperware" nickname is just stupid.

The 'Tupperware' stuff has its place. I wish I had not sold my Shield. With prices as low as they are now, I may rectify that mistake. I am curious how the BG compares to the Shield on the range.

Ok, now you're just trying to make me cry.
I just stopped into Cabela's to pick up some self defense ammo for the new Shield and found these.
Although both gently used, the prices .

Yes that's what sucked me in, the Shield was $324 and a $75 rebate, I just didn't have the willpower to resist.

The rebate ends in June, just find a place with a good price to start with.
It may take a few weeks but I'll do a side by side comparison with the BG & Shield and let you know.

A LGS I've done business with had a used 9mm Shield with 4 magazines for $299.99. I gave serious thought to stopping in and giving it a look, but didn't. It's gone now, which is good for me, because I have a line on a Mdl 36-1 3" in good condition. Higher price, but I think I'll be happier.
That aside, with the prices and rebates going on right now, I'd have to tell someone who wants a SD gun to give the Shield a serious look.

Yes, I figured at that price now is the time to give it a whirl.

I think some of the haters are secretly buying these under $300 Shields but of course they'll never admit it.

I have pointed and laughed at people who have Tupperware.
Now I have two of them, part of being a man is admitting when you are wrong.

You will be happier, trust me. Shields, used or otherwise, are just another dime-a-dozen pistol like Glocks (I have both, btw). A 36-1 is a fine little revolver.

And here is poor old TTSH, going in exactly the opposite direction. I am selling a lot of my Tupperware (including my Shields) in order to finance the acquisition of more all-metal handguns.
Different strokes for different folks. Plastic does nothing for me anymore except in the tiniest true pocket pistols.

I did the same thing at $315 but the problem is that I already have a Shield - that's how good a deal it is.

Maybe I'm lucky, but I found a pristine 4513 for the same price as a 45 Shield. Now maybe if I wanted a truck gun....

That's why they do it. "At the price, it can sit in the gun safe until I find a need for it."
The LGS I referred to is a huge S&W shop. A few months ago they had a ANIB 642 for $299.00. Great deal, so I bought it as a gift for my son. He's wanted one for a while, but prices down where he lives were about $100.00 more for a new one. The reason this shop had it so cheap was because they sell the gun new for 349.00. Which is still cheaper than anyone else around. They still made money on the sale to me, of that I have no doubt. Which just means that they didn't give the guy much on his trade in.
That's why I never trade in a gun, I sell it myself.

Lol if it makes you all feel any better. They put a thin steel frame inside the polymer. On the S&W M&p m2.0 models so you are still getting a metal gun with polymer coating lol. Anyway that's what the S&W sales rep was saying at the lgs. when I was getting my m2.0

That's why a bar has house lights at the end of the night, so you can see what your about to leave with. You left with the fat chick before the lights came on. Enjoy.

..................and getting back to the subject...once upon a time I had a Shield 9.....when the going price was $449 .....it wasn't the polymer frame that was objectionable to me but that God awful feel of the striker action.....if the Shield had a hammer....I would be all over another one at that price

I'm refusing to buy a new M&P until they offer 10mm.
Mostly because my own Tupperware is superior...
so there is as of yet, no reason to buy new...

No worries. I only have one poly gun, a M&P 22 FS, but I think Shields and Compacts are practical guns. With the current low prices I'm considering one for carry/truck use instead of my CZ75s, SIG P6, or K frames.
The striker fire polys are today's user equivalent of my old Model 10s, 67 no dash, and 36 3". In their day K frames and J frames were basic inexpensive workman guns, not the sought after quasi collectibles they are today.
