Default Smith/Walther finish

I picked up an S&W PPK ss 380 about 6 months ago. So far, it has functioned flawlessly - I haven't fed it anything other than FMJ. I also have a Walther PP 22LR, and I definitely like S&W's redesign of the upper back-strap.

The one thing I do NOT like about the PPK is the finish - or lack thereof. No other pistol I've ever owned or handled has had such HARD EDGES! The edge of the trigger guard irritates my middle finger when I take a tight firing grip, and the groove in the top of the beaver-tail has acute edges that are sharp enough to cut skin if not handled carefully. Not good in what is supposed to be usable as a pocket pistol! (Also, the hinge-point of the trigger guard does not fit flush when closed.) Are they all like this, or did mine somehow skip the buffing operation?

Along with having that deficit rectified, I'm thinking of having the mirror-finished (ss) surfaces bead-blasted - similar to the non-glare top surface of the slide - which would make it look much like my 5946. Any thoughts?

I have one made in 2005 or so that is pretty smooth all around.Although I'm not a fan of the laser etching, and would prefer the stamping done like it use to be.
