Smile 4013TSW Love

Went to the range today for qualification. Took my CCW with me to shoot after qual. Ran through the qual with my 4013TSW, then ran about 250 rounds for drills. That gun is awesome! Not a single malfunction and it shoots great! Never thought I'd trust a semi-auto for my everyday carry, but this gun is flawless!

Great guns. You take care of them (a little TLC goes a long way) & they'll take care of you.

Is your's railed or pre-rail?

.

4013TSW & 4056TSW (pre-rails)

Found a really clen 4013 TSW at a local Pawn Shop and walked out the door with it for $350 a year or so ago. LOVE this gun!! Also have a MK 3 Shorty .40 and the TSW is it's equal in every way in accuracy on the range.
Half the recoil of a Glock 23 at the same size weight, as reliable MORE accurate and IMO one of the finest .40 cal compacts ever built!
CONGRATS!
Mine the day I bought it.

Took it straight to the range dropped the slide never cleaned it and ran a few mags. This was the result at 10 yards. Took a few to get dialed in to the trigger then--.

^ so you are saying the spring and bushing in that performance center Shorty you have makes no notable difference to you in shooting it at the range as compared to your TSW 40?

Just trying to figure out that is what you are saying?

Yep in the pair I have can tell no difference in the way they group out to 20 yards. The Shorty is lighter, fit is tighter and such but is no more accurate that I can tell than my TSW is.
Bought the TSW to carry and keep the Shorty in the safe most of the time. Both are outstanding .40 cal compacts that IMO have no modern equals!
PS my TSW has the exact same double spring and guide rod set up that my Shorty .40 has the Shorty only adds the Briley bushing and PC fine tuning. Maybe I just got a good TSW but outside the adjustable sights on my Shorty .40 and the slightly lighter weight to me they feel and shoot pretty much the same.

Yeah, I agree I have a Shorty 40 Mk III and I love them as well. So, besides running smoother you can really not tell the difference at 20 yards?

How about 30 yards 40 yards? The Performance Center 40 is Smiths best 40 caliber semi auto. Only around 500 of each series were ever made. So, I would imagine that you would carry the Shorty 40 if you were not afraid of losing, having it stolen or confiscated if par chance you ever had to use it. Certain guns make me never want to get rid of them, they run so smooth have very little recoil and feel like an extension of your arm when you shoot it. If you are telling me that you get that same feeling with your TSW then people on here and various other sites are wasting their time getting PC models.

Here is mine, I love it and have owned some Tacticals. There is a real notable difference to me when I shoot them. I have found a fondness for Sigs as carry weapons as they have the features I want and are readily available.

Will not part with either of the .40's anytime soon. Yes I bought the TSW for exactly the reason you said. The fear of loosing the Shorty was a factor and i can feel more comfortable carrying the TSW. The Shorty is slightly smoother and lighter than the TSW when you handle it. However they shoot so close it's scary. Like I said maybe I got a really good TSW but back to back shooting both on the range felt recoil and accuracy + the triggers are virtually identical on both. With a .40 and in particular a short barrel compact .40 don't normally shoot out any further than 20 yards as I have 10mm's for that!

Yes, I have a 1076 as well, Smith 3rd gens are good guns. I love the Shorty 40 but for everyday use I have found Sigs to just fit me better for some reason.

I still have some Smiths though and do enjoy shooting them.

I'm just the opposite as the Sigs just don't "feel" right to me. Guess i just hanven't spent as much time with them as I have 3rd gens and Browning Highpowers.
Carred ether the TSW 4013 or a 5943 I have everyday for several years when i was working in a local pawn shop. Shoot well with both and they just feel right in my hand for instinctive shooting so--.
