reflex sight
Hello all- please recommend a red dot type reflex sight for my S&W Victory. Tried a Truglow. The first one didn't work out of the box, the second failed after about 30 minutes of use. No more Truglows. When it did work I was able to shoot some great groups so looking for a similar but hopefully better made unit. TIA.

This is a Docter on my model 41. It's virtually identical to the Burris Fastfire which is what I'd recommend for you. It doesn't add much to the bulk or weight of the pistol which is a real plus for me.

Only red dot reflex sight I have is on an AR and it is a Meprolight. Here is an example at Cabela's:
Meprolight M21 Reflex Sight : Cabela's
(c) 1996-2017 Cabela's Inc.
Meprolight make s a few different model. They are not inexpensive!

I picked up this Field Sport Red and Green Reflex Sight with 4 Reticles
on Amazon and used it in my bullseye league with no issues at all. I will say that the adjustments are difficult to feel. But once i was sighted it in it performed well and held zero.

Don't buy any more junk but there no need ingoing for a high end unit ether . Primary arms tends to have some pretty good products made by holosun and they have a few refurbished units for a low price with 3moa dot . I've had one of there pricer models on an AR15 for a frew years and pleased as heck with it .

I'm using a Vortex Venom and Ultradot Matchdot. I like the open design of the Venom, however even at the lowest setting the dot is to big/bright for me (I'm either shooting paper or deer) but not a deal breaker. The 2mil size of the Match dot is perfect (for me) at the lower and medium settings (I wear cheaters, but not with a scope or red dot).
I wish the Venom had a 2moa dot.
Both are/have been on 44mags without issue.

Vortex or Burris. I've had a Burris Fastfire III (3moa) on my Victory for about a year now. Have not had a single problem with it. Love it!

+1. I have the 3 MOA as well, I shoot bullseye. For steel challenge or faster style, the 8 moa could work as well.
I also have an Ultradot Matchdot 2, a very nice tube type, but don't t like the weight (nearly 3x).

Here are a couple of mine, top one is a FAS/Domino 602 .22 LR target pistol with Vortex Venom 3 moa red dot, bottom gun is FAS/Domino 603 center fire pistol .32 S&W long with Burris Fastfire red dot sight, of the 2 Ilike the Venom better.

Personally, I always liked the Bushnell TRS-25 as a sub-$100 scope. Durable, decent dot, adequate click adjustment for windage and elevation. Unfortunately, I do believe that they changed it a bit.
The Ultradot 25mm is pretty good, I'm using one now--but it's a bit pricier, depending on what your budget is. Still much cheaper than a FastFire.
I'd use tube-style dots for precision pistol sports (Bullseye, etc), and leave the open style for action pistol.
