Default Mexican Model 41

Just purchased a Model 41 and noticed the word "Mexico" on the label of the box. Also has "Mexico" stamped on the slide. Has anyone seen this or know if it is common? Not sure how to post pic but will try this evening.

Interesting. Maybe that was destined for export to Mexico but, as with a lot of S&W's it could have been a contract over-run. The boxed date is in 2015 so it's been in inventory for a couple of years. How about a couple of full length pic's.

Looks like the standard Model 41. I don't know what would make it unique for export to Mexico.

Probably an overrun from the "Viva Zapata" commemorative series.

UCE serial number should put it as a 2009 production date

Maybe it was meant to be carried in the waistband without a holster.

You're missing the bandoleer that came with it...

Seriously, I guess the magazines are normal capacity? Maybe Mexico has a capacity restriction and they were going to ship them with reduced capacity magazines or something. Just a SWAG.

Looks (to me) like there is another label UNDER the label on the end of the case. I would be interested in what it says!

To answer some questions it came with two 10 round magazine and there is no bottom label-the label on the box is the only label. Think I may get a Jinks letter on this. Just thought this was an oddity.

Interesting, and agree it is worth getting a letter. My guess is the slide was export stamped in accordance with some Mexican law regarding imported firearms, or it is the name of the S & W distributor there. Does it read "SDN Mexico D. F."?

Here pic of spent casing envelope date November 20, 2009. Dealer said got pistol about month ago so it is hard to believe that this has been sitting on a distributor shelf for 7 plus years.

I took your picture of the label and played (enhanced) with it. I could swear I see an under-label? Take a look at this picture. Look under where it says Mexico & look between the scan bars on the left.
Am I seeing things?

You are correct. Put light up to it and I can make out serial number caliber barrel length and SKU number and they all match what is on the upper label. Did not see word Mexico.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that this has everything to do with the United Nations BS marking scheme thought up by the EU as means of keeping track of the movement of illicit firearms.
