I have a very lightly used 2206 which has been stored properly for many years.
I took the gun out yesterday and tried to fire it.

Nothing,
I chambered a round, pulled the trigger, not cocked, no resistance.
Tried several more times, nothing.

Does anyone have an idea here?
The gun has not been used enough to wear anything out.

Would appreciate any advice.

Might be a busted firing pin/firing pin spring - the weak point on those pistols.

I always clean long-stored mechanisms in case the lube turned to glue.
Disassembly on a 2206 is a little bit of a trick, and many aren't disassembled much. You can check the spring and firing pin while you have it apart.

Did the trigger move?

Very likely that you will need to clean the gun, some lubes get sticky over time. Most likely what the issue is.

Pull the grips off, pull the slide off, blow it out good with some brake cleaner. Blow it out with compressed air, then use the lube of your choice. Clean the breach face of the slide, use your finger to push the firing pin forward, check to see if it protrudes into the breach face.

What he describes sounds like the hammer did not fall, so the firing pin wouldn't be the issue.

Thank you for the responses on this post.

I field stripped the gun this morning,
overall it looks quite clean.

Reassembled and tried again.
The Cocked pin protrudes at the base of the handle.
Inserted empty clip.
Pulled trigger, same as before, no resistance.
Recocked, tried pulling the trigger 2-3 times, click!
Works when persuaded as such.

Sounds like something is gummed up.
Is there something I could check, clean when the gun is field stripped?

So the trigger moves, no resistance?

Did you store the pistol without a magazine in it?

I suspect you did, and the magazine disconnect kept the trigger bar away from the sear and it stuck that way. So now even when you put a mag in it the trigger bar isn't returning to it's normal position engaging the sear. Spraying cleaner up through the magwell could help remove what is holding the bar from springing back into position as it normally should, the trigger bar is on the left side(as you are holding it) of the pistol, so focus the cleaner on that side.

You are correct, I stored it with out the Mag in place.

Person I spoke with suggested I send the gun to them for repair.
